Samsung Galaxy A71 Hands-On

Samsung has launched its latest mid-range device, the Galaxy A71, in the Philippines. A successor to last year’s A70, the A71 retains the 6.7-inch display size but steps it up in the processor and rear camera departments. We took it for a quick hands-on, check it out!

The Samsung Galaxy A71 comes as the successor to last year’s Galaxy A70. Samsung designed its latest A-series with a Prism effect, made evident with the diamond shapes, and a subtle linear pattern on its rear. It comes in several colors, namely Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Silver, and Prism Crush Blue. The one we have here is in the Prism Crush Silver, and it’s quite pleasing to look at, especially when you see the rainbow-colored light streaks.

The rear has a glossy plastic finish, endlessly attracting fingerprints. One thing we like about the A71 is that despite its massive size, it’s thin and lightweight yet quite robust in the hands.

The A71 sports a Super AMOLED Plus Infinity-O display, measuring at 6.7-inches. The bezels surrounding the panel are pretty thin, and there’s no notch to worry about as the device has a hole-punch front camera instead. The hole-punch module employs a 32MP snapper.

For cameras, the A71 possesses a quadruple-setup, composed of a 64MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, 5MP depth, and a 5MP macro shooter. They’re housed inside a rectangle-shaped module, placed on the upper left corner of the back. The LED flash can be found together with the lenses.

Situated on the right are the volume rocker and the power button. Due to the smartphone’s size, individuals with smaller hands would find it slightly difficult to press with just a hand.

Meanwhile, the dual SIM tray with a dedicated microSD card slot sits on the left side of the device.

The top part of the smartphone only has a microphone.

One can find the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, noise-canceling microphone, and the single downward-firing speaker all at the bottom.

The Galaxy A71 sports a Snapdragon 730G chipset, paired with 8GB RAM, 128GB memory, a 4,500mAh battery with 25W super fast-charging technology. It also features expandable storage up to 512GB, NFC support, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and runs on One UI based on Android 10.

The Galaxy A71 is priced at PHP 22,990USD 392INR 33,211EUR 373CNY 2,853 and will be available for purchase starting February 15.
