We’re live here in Berlin for the Samsung Unpacked 2013: Episode 2, days before the IFA opens on the 6th. Samsung has finally unveiled the new Galaxy Note 3.
Samsung bumped up most of the internal hardware while retaining the chassis size. The display is now at 5.7-inches but the width of the handset remained the same (same thing they did with the S4).
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 specs:
5.68-inch full HD Super AMOLED display @ 1920×1080 pixels, 388ppi
Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 2.265GHz quad-core
Adreno 330 Graphics
3GB RAM
32GB, 64GB internal storage
up to 64GB via microSD card
LTE Category 4 150Mbps
WiFi 802.11ac
Bluetooth 4.0
NFC
IR Blaster
GPS w/ aGPS support, GLONASS
13MP rear camera, BSI sensor
1080p @ 60fps
1.9MP front-facing camera
1080p video @ 30fps
3200mAh Li-Ion battery
8.3mm thin
168 grams
Android 4.3 Jellybean
Like the Galaxy S4, the Note 3 also comes with a 3G variant running a Samsung Exyos 5 Octa 1.9GHz dual quad-core (Note 3 SM-N9000).
The handset is available in classic white, jet black and blush pink leather colors. They also introduced a leather back-cover and did away with the old polycarbonate backplate.
Since the covers are still user-removable, there’s option to change the back-cover to other colors (10 color variants in all, including the standard 3 mentioned earlier).
One of the interesting features that was originally introduced in the Galaxy S4 was the Group Play. Now, with the Galaxy Note 3, the Group Play feature also includes video. You can basically play a single video and span them across multiple Galaxy Note 3 devices.
The new S Pen now features an Air Command where you hover the S Pen and you are showed a selection of actions.
Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Gear which is a companion device to the Note 3. It is worn like a watch but is a stand-alone device which can be paired with the Note 3 and the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1 to provide extended functions.
Here’s a longer version of the video demo:
Global release is September 25 and should be available in all countries by October.

Bakit po puro katangahan…
I just wonder why some comments (if not most) bear the word “TANGA”. What an expression of a professional! Not unless you really are not, which becomes obvious in your words.
This defeats the purpose of sharing comments to the actual issue. An expression of a real no-no, i suppose…
“He who says what he knows and says not what he doesn’t is the one who knows.”
A great reminder…
Dakkol T. Butok says:
Ok itong balitaktakan dito ah may abuzalzal at may wewe, wla bang meow hehe peace, I really like my kababayan pag nag uusap, open minded d madaling maasar kahit medyo askad na ng salita.
wew says:
FYI di ako abnoy c abuzalzal oo.
XTN says:
I cant help to ask but does the air gestures and smart motions in the s4 are also included in this note 3?
zxc says:
yes. all “smart” features of s4 are also in gn3.
Vic Dul Loog says:
Well lets put it this way, the GN series is not really a fone for everybody. The S Pen puts an end to every debate. Hindi mo pwedeng i compare ang s4 sa GN3 and IPhone5, not even close. Clone? Copy cat? I dont think so. After a year of using GN di na ko babalim sa IOs. Hehehe
zxc says:
This hardware + smaller form factor, maybe at 5in or 5.2in with minimal bezels, would be the perfect phone for me. Oh, hi there galaxy s5. :)
totoy brown says:
parang galaxy s4 lang to, para sakin mas ok parin s4 dito
Miguel says:
Is true, they could change the design, but I guess that’s what make their gadgets recognizable!
I’m still wondering if I should buy this or the upcoming Z1… http://www.pricepanda.com.ph/sony-xperia-z1-pid1525090/
wew says:
this looks like a phone with built-in leather case when we look at the back lol, anyway mas maganda siya tignan kaysa sa mga naunang plastic ung likod kaso kailangan ata nito ng napakaingat na paggamit, tingin ko madaling masira ung leather back pag pinapatong mo lang kung saansaan tska di ba siya bastabasta magwewear out pag pasmado ung kamay? mukhang kailangan din nito ng case…
Milhouse says:
Faux leather nga. T@nga
wew says:
sorry mejo exaggerated ung pagkakasabe ko ng madali masira, alam kong tatagal din to dahil samsung siya(based on the brand itself)pero kung ikukumpara mo sa hard polycarbonate plastic ng ibang phones maganda pa rin itsura nila kahit ilang taon na…well malalaman naman natin kung ganu to katibay pag nagamit na talaga
abuzalzal says:
ayy parang tanga lang…tingin mo madaling masira dahil leather? lmao
READ:it’s a faux leather = POLYCARBONATE plastic
Pareho lang ‘to sa Note 2, but with a different finish
buckleboy says:
Nice specs but the design is overused and overplayed. Samsung should come up with a new design for their next line of smartphones because most people out their are tired of Samsung’s seemingly repetitive design.
Still getting one of these bad boys, anyway.
Bino says:
FYI, it is using a USB 3.0 as charging and file transfer port, micro usb charger is now useless, unless they provide a converter. Panibagong charger na naman. Fail.
pogs says:
impressive specs but… what? plactic din pati yung faux leather sa back cover? 0.o

kami says:
ang Foxxy! ng Faux leather back cover.
im drooling. hahaha
wafumet says:
Maganda po ba kapag leather yun back case same sa mga blackberries?
meh says:
its nice but its way too big for me to hold. Might just hold out for the next nexus
abuzalzal says:
Yeah. ..and the New Nexus 4 should cost just about the same as the Note 3 on non- Google Store countries lol

@Milhouse hindi ako ang nagcomment nyan, kung nagcocomment man ako sa PTB i also use the name “wew” at parehas ng icon dito….let me just clarify my last comment pinost ko lng un para lang mapakita sau na hindi maling masabi na kahawig ng sgn3 ang sgs2…at sinabi ko rin sa previous comments ko na di ako kumokontra sau na mula sa sgn2 ang design nito kaya wala nang dahilan pa para mapost mo yan…nabasa ko na rin yan before
Milhouse says:
@wew, at talagang gumawa ka pa ng comment sa ibang tech blogs para lang maipakita na may nagsu-support sa sinasabi mo. your effort is admirable. LOL

Milhouse says:
@wew, oo, mukhang wala na nga. LOL
wew says:
Milhouse says:
@wew, you are always entitled to your incorrect opinion.
case closed.
:D
wew says:
@Milhouse honestly wala akong maisip na example kaya naging hawig nito ang sgs2,pero im not saying that those 2 factors that i have given before are only my proofs, its just that when i saw this for the first time, the phone that quickly came to my mind is the sgs2…i cant give another concrete factor…maybe the chrome on the sides,i dont know but i think it adds(and i dont want to give more just to shut your mouth)… but in the end THIS IS JUST OUR OPINION…if your OPINION is that sgs2 does not look like the note 3,then FINE,ill not oppose you anymore. but ill still stay with my opinion the same as the other people like the well-known techblogger Yuga and other readers…and last please stop saying that the design of note 3 came from note 2,because im not against in that statement since its your opinion…but in my opinion they somewhat look-a-like but still not convinced that its design is from note 2, but for me its still sgs2,when i saw the note 3 its not note 2 that came to my mind.NGAUN MAY IHIHIRIT KA PA BA?
Milhouse says:
Clearly, i don’t agree with what Yuga said (if he indeed said that). Regardless of what he said, other tech bloggers noted how similar the Note 3 is to its predecessor and not on the s2.
“UN NGA LNG MAS HAWIG NITO ANG SGS2 KUNG IKUKUMPARA MO SA IBANG SAMSUNG.”
Go ahead and ELABORATE on how exactly the s2 is “mas hawig” to the Note 3 compared to other Samsung smartphones. Explain why the s2 is more hawig to the Note 3 than its predecessor, the Note 2. Dahil sa ‘Rounded corners’? That’s utter bullshit because, as i have incessantly reiterated, most samsung smartphones have rounded corners. Dahil sa home button? That’s another total bullshit because the Note 3’s home button is not even slightly similar to the s2’s. So what other factors made the s2 ‘mas hawig’ to the Note 3 compared to other Samsung phones? Answer please, cretinous lowlife.
LOL
wew says:
Milhouse says:
@wew, and hopefully this will be last time that i will lecture to an outright moron like you that the rounded corners and home button hardly make Note 3 similar to the s2. Most of Samsung’s smartphones have rounded corners and the NOTE 3’s home button does NOT even look slightly similar to the s2’s home button. Gets mo na, you hopeless degenerate ignoramus? LOL
wew says:
PUTA.LAST NA TO(talaganag pataasan kayu ng katangahan ni abuzalzal noh??).WALA KAMING SINASABI NA GALING SA SGS2 ANG DESIGN NG NOTE 3,ANG SINASABI NAMIN HAWIG NG NOTE 3 ANG SGS2.NAINTINDIHAN MO NA BA??KUNG DI MO PA MAINTINDIHAN ANG SINASABI KO ICOMMENT MO EMAIL MO DITO AT SA EMAIL KO IEEXPLAIN. KALA KO TALAGA NUNG UNA MAGALING KA PERO HINDI PALA TALAGA.
Milhouse says:
@wew, did you even read the reviews of other tech blogs? because if you did then you would be totally aware that almost all of them clearly indicated that the Note 3 merely followed the built and design of its predecessor and not the s2.
wew says:
Milhouse says:
@wew, and i am merely pointing out that your opinion and “perspective” are wrong. The Note 3 could not possibly be a larger s2 just because of its rounded corners and the similar home buttons (which is not even that similar to the s2 in the first place). The Note 3 continues the built and design of its predecessor and not the s2. That is quite obvious.
wew says:
In fact, the home button of the Note gadgets are not even that similar to the s2. What an outright kabobohan to describe Note 3 as a larger s2 when the Note 3 simply continued the shape and design of its predecessor, the Note 2.
Milhouse says:

wew says:
Milhouse says:
@wew, nagdagdag ka ng isang factor?! Oh, you mean that stupidity of epic proportions when you said that the Note 3 looks like the s2 because of its home button?! Are you even aware that almost all smartphones from Samsung have the same home buttons?!
Seriously, i am amused on how you constantly redfine idiocy. Keep up the good work!
wew says:

So design-wise, how on earth naging larger s2 ang Note3?”==“The shape of the handset has somewhat become more edgy rather than curved like the old Galaxy S2.” == INUULIT KO DIN TIGNAN MO RIN TO NANG MARAMDAMAN MO UNG PAGKAPAHIYA MO KAHIT SINA YUGA MISMO NAKITA NILA NA MAY HAWIG SILA NI SGS2. DAMI TALAGANG BITCH SA MUNDO.
Milhouse says:
Is your IQ lower than your shoe size?. Halatang hindi ka techy kaya alis ka na sa yugatech and save yourself from further embarrassment.
wew says:
“The shape of the handset has somewhat become more edgy rather than curved like the old Galaxy S2.” – From the article “Hands-on at IFA: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005”. ==ANO KA NGAUN MILHOUSE TATANGATANGA KA KASE KALA MO NAMAN MAY ALAM MAGSAMA KAYO NI ABUZALZAL MAGARAL MUNA NG BASICS BAGOI= MAGYABANG.
wew says:
Anong kabobohan yan? Eh halos lahat ng smartphones ngayon eh rounded corners. Congratulations for bringing stupidity to a whole new level.
wew says:
So design-wise, how on earth naging larger s2 ang Note3? LOL
wew says:
Milhouse says:
when you said that the Note 3 is a bigger s2 then surely you are implying that their specs are also the same. fool.
Phillip says:
Did you even understand the context? I was obviously pertaining to the external appearance, you dumb kid
Milhouse says:
Did you even bother to read the specs? The S2 looks like a gadget from the medieval age compared to the Note 3.
abuzalzal says:
Medyo underwhelming yung presentation tsaka yung product. Nothing earth-shattering here, just the expected spec bumps.
Carlo says:

isip isip din kasi kahit walang time!
YUng double tap to wake, kinopya ni LG. haha!
kotetsu says:
Lag will always be a part of Android unless Google decides to rebuild Android from the ground up with a new architecture. Dalvik VM is one to blame why there’s lag on Android. Android apps are all designed to run under the Dalvik VM and each app is sandboxed by default. Since Android apps run on a Virtual Machine (VM) there is a performance penalty because of the more CPU cycle needed to pass the operation being done from Dalvik VM back to the whole Android OS and vice-versa. It’s like having an F1 car run under a throttled mode.
Additionally, Dalvik VM is shown to run 2 to 3 times slower than a Java SE embedded app.
abuzalzal says:
Lagdroid? Lol. 2008 pa ba ngayon?
Ewe, you can only dream about having these features in your puny -screen iToy
The Note 3 is a beast, pero walang quantum leap improvements over the Note 2 eh (at least feature-wise)
Having said that. … I’m still getting it :-)
Ryan says:
@ewe so ang pag increase ng size from 3.5 to 4 inch eh innovation? and years ago sinabi ng founder nla na 3.5 is the perfect size for a phone? wag ka ng maingit kc wla ng iimprove yang boring na ios mo.
