Remember those flexible OLED displays that Samsung loved showcasing? Well it’s here now in the form of the Galaxy Round!
Basically, the company took all of their best internals and packed it with their OLED technology. It features a 5.7-inch flexible 1080p display, a Snapdragon 800 CPU, 3GB RAM & a 13MP camera in a thin and curved 7.9mm chassis.
The phone is basically all things Galaxy Note 3, but instead it gives up the stylus functionality for the curvaceous feature set of the device (seen below, “roll effect”). It even has that fake stitched leather back.
Samsung Galaxy Round specs:
5.7-inch full HD flexible Super AMOLED display @ 1920×1080 pixels, 386ppi
Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz quad-core
Adreno 330 Graphics
3GB RAM
32GB internal storage
up to 64GB via microSD card
LTE
WiFi
Bluetooth
NFC
IR Blaster
GPS w/ aGPS support, GLONASS
13MP rear camera, BSI sensor
1080p @ 60fps, 2160p @ 30fps
1.9MP front-facing camera
1080p video @ 30fps
2,800mAh Li-Ion battery
7.9mm thin
154 grams
Android 4.3 Jellybean
The phone will be available in South Korea for a price of around Php44k converted. We still have no details regarding an international launch.
Update: The phone will only be available in South Korea. Samsung has no plans to market it yet internationally.

ccpaulin says:
Parang IMAX !
jejefrek says:
Yes naman! Another original article by the one and only freking! Wahahahaha! Keep it up bata! :)))
Lourraine says:
Stupid innovation. Who would want a curved phone? Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. Nokia can do better designs than this! Another non-sense gadget from Samsung.
GeN_GiM says:
I have to agree. Even if it is an innovation it is more of a novelty. This is basically a Note 3 (minus the S-Pen) with a curved screen. I guess Samsung is just trying to cash in on trivial innovations (like that Android phone with projector they released before).
But look at the bright side. This might be their ‘sneak peek’ for that concept phone they once showed in an expo (the foldable screen smartphone and that pull-out screen phone they once featured).
Lemeul says:
This was built so mice can play with it or perhaps it will be more relaxing for a mouse to use it as a rocking device. Now we can say, duyan-duyan din pag may time.hahaha! Stupid nga.
Abezelzel says:
I think it’s not really a Stupid innovation, Marami pang pwedeng uses ang Flexible display, not only for smart phones. And I think this is just a start. after few year mag iimprove tong technology na to for sure you won’t be calling this a “Stupid innovation” anymore :)
Lourraine says:
@Abezelzel: I’m referring to the current model, the Samsung Galaxy Round. Your comment applies in the future so save that for future use.
Abezelzel says:
@Lourraine
It should be “Stupid phone” and not “Stupid innovation”
Lourraine says:
@Abezelzel: Shame. Kinoreksyon mo pa grammar ko. The term is stupid innovation referring to its curved feature. Stupid.
samsung tomorrow says:
stolen images! tsk3 poor info
voltes5 says:
Cellphone manufacturers running out of ideas. They are now coming up with useless gimmicks. Curved displays = innovation..using it for cellphone = stupid..sadly, madami padin bibili nyan..pang status symbol lang..
kent says:
kung status symbol lg e dun ka na sa mas maganda, LG G2 sila lg may rear key feature napaka convenient ng feature na un for working people
Genuis says:
44K? Seriously? Yan ang tinatawag na OVERPRICED. Way too ugly and not impressive!
allen says:
yeah its very expensive i’d prefer LG G2 at 29k and its considered the worlds best smartphone of 2013
orange fan says:
Oh I see lots of samsung haters since all of them are envious apple fans furious with samsung for churning out better ideas and gadgets than their lowly ass-god hahaha!
Kat says:
Hahaha! I can say that with that curved design kahit Samsung fanboys nahihiya kaya di makatira o makadefend dito! Hahaha!
wahaha says:
do you know how to read and analyze?! di naman pinag uusapan ang fan based brand dito. do use your brain once in awhile before it gets too rusty.
Kat says:
All I can say to you @bajigjig is WAHAHA! :)))
benchmark says:
as what my officemate said, soon magkakaroon din ng phone na korteng safeguard hehehehe
I think the tech is not good sa phone…maybe sa big screen billboard pede yan…or say sa mga round columns that blocks a concert view, baka pedeng gamitin yan para maging mag mukhang see thru ang structural column.
gets? Nah, masyadong techincal.
Jejefrek says:
Parang ganito.
http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lsfo0s5uPE1qzgrfr.jpg
asahi says:
ay! curved nga!! haha!
ang panget!!
sabagay, Samsung eh. hahaha! yan lang siguro kaya nila!
I’m starting to believe you. Maybe I’ll stick to my original plan of buying LG G2 lng. ang comfy kasi nun gamitin. FULL HD p plus OIS camera. tnx. now I know :)
abuzalzal says:
Hampanget, sobra
XPKE says:
wew says:
LOL HAHAHA
Ryan says:
dpat 2 buy one take one toh. pra pantay ang hubog ng pwet mo. haha
abuzalzal says:
Once again, just like the GALAXY GEAR, Samsung attempting to release a half-baked, ill-conceived tech product to the masses for the sake of having done it ”first”.
Granted it is flexible (and unbreakable), but that doesn’t mean you have to over-emphasize it by twisting the dimensions and deviate from the norm….just so people know you own one.
Cons outweigh the benefits, Why would you want to see distorted images popping out of your smartphone?
Jejefrek says:
+1 to this!! Wala eh, samsung yan eh, what do we expect :))) ewan ko ba dami pa din sumasamba hahaha!
Ps. Kasing pangit at dork ni frek etong round na to :)))
funds says:
uhmm.. di nila pwede sabihing mas ergonomic magtype kapag ganto ehh.. mas mahirap nga magtype pagganto ehh..ssiguro kung paconvex okay pa..
luizmaniebo says:
hi. I am just concerned about your comment. I heard from a friend na kung ergonomic lng pag uusapan. LG launched its new LG G2, astig may rear key un na for all purpose of the phone. one button lng sia sa back and is very helpful since sakto ung index finger mo sa button :) hope it helped you :)
duterte says:
CLAVIO!
drilon says:
Pwede ngang gawing desktop ang Ubuntu Edge…ang kaso, dahil sa limited processing power ng mga mobile processors, limited pa rin ang desktop functionality kasi some apps out there require true desktop processing power. for short, useless pa rin since na limited nga ang processing power, limited lang din ang mga desktop apps na pwede mong i-run.
nice try, ubuntu pero you failed miserably.
wew says:
jhommyboy says:
ang dami nyong arte,, bakit pag binigay ba yan sainyo aayawan nyo dahil panget or dahil korting sabon? mga tao nga naman.. tsk! tsk! tsk!
wew says:
nway, i would appreciate that slight design change. it would solve my problem when swiping tapos di na makakaabot yong thumb ko sa kabilang side ng screen.
try nyo mga pips: without using any phone, move your thumb sidewards as if swiping. straight line ba o curve ang “na-tatravel(sori wala ako maisip na term)” ng dulo ng thumb ninyo?
“{source 1, 2, 3} {via}”
F12+ESC says:
How come no one’s complaining about the Nexus S’s curved screen (which was actually Samsung’s first smartphone with curved screen)?
Why, oh why?!
Epstein says:
Samsung can gamble because they have the resources to do so. Kung hindi sya mabenta, ok lang.
Genuis says:
Eh bakit ang Apple hindi naggagamble sa mga stupid innovation na yan kahit they have 30X more cash than America and is way richer than Samsung. Stupido!
wew says:
pano kaya to pag nagundergo ng droptest?ano kaya itsura hahaha
kkk says:
pot.pot says:
for me, much better ang flexible kesa round ahaha.
dimple! says:
ahaha! your right.
wew says:
yeah….kaso mahirap pa iimplement yan lol daming research ang kailangang gawin
luizmaniebo says:
hi. this is good. but somehow I still look for something extra ordinary. I heard from a friend that LG lauched G2 withe rare key thing, do you also have that? just asking. tnx :)
kent says:
i’d still prefer LG G2 it has a much better design than a curve phone :| G2 have an OIS cam and a rear key button feature its much more convenient
kamehameha says:
yaaaawn! ang boring! la bago, buti pa LG ganda nung bagong labas nila na smartphone kumpara dito..
timtam says:
expensive phone..im not sure about the quality perang hindi siya worth bilhin.unlike the LG G2 phone not expensive and good quality pa.
fanatic says:
i agree with you, and LG G2 is much more affordable.!
pjmigs says:
interesting phone, but when it comes to camera mas better parin yung LG G2 phone 13mp camera with OIS super resolution zoom.
watsittuya says:
whats the use of the curve phone?
curve? says:
name says:
i will be loyal with LG,, i think their G Flex is much better and interesting to use. :)
joy says:
bkit curve? ahaha. kakatuwa aman, anu kya idea behind yhis innovation?
tyrone says:
:like: pero try the new one, the G Flex.
don says:
anung use ng curve po?
