Samsung’s new mid-level handset is the Galaxy Ace Plus, an upgrade to the popular Galaxy Ace which has been out in the market since early last year. The Galaxy Ace Plus bumped the specs a bit and a refreshed design.
The original Galaxy Ace is fairly popular here in the Philippines and still selling for around Php13,000 in some stores.
Expect the Galaxy Ace Plus to be in the Php15k range when it arrives in the country next month.

I still prefer the Galaxy Ace. It is not a good upgrade. The Screen Resolution is Just 157ppi. Mas malinaw pa ang Ace which is 165ppi. Wait for the Ace 2 to be released which is a good upgrade. It is Dual Core and it has a Front Cam. It has a 3.8″ screen with Super AMOLED and it’s screen resolution is 250+ ppi. I know it because ang Cp ko ay Galaxy Ace
ruchad says:
Is the back cover glossy of non-glassy? I see in the reviews it has a glossy back but according to ACP it is non glossy?
acp says:
Hi Yugatech,
It’s SRP price is P13,990 in Samsung Trinoma, as for the back cover it is not flat and glossy, it has a curve down part like the Galaxy Y Duos and back like the S2.
creative says:
For me the best phone ever is Galaxy S the original version, I had ICS working in my sgs for a week now and it worked perfectly. Samoled, 1ghz cpu, powervr sgx540 (same gpu as galaxy nexus) <– iPhone4 spec . that's what you call a deal breaker :)
jelo says:
Really, Samsung is really doing everything to annoy the big A.
James says:
masyado ng madaming smartphones na rinerelease ang samsung
Xperian says:
Woah.. WTH samsung! Are they retards?
I own a SE Live with Walkman and they release this crap?
Walang binatbat to sa Live with Walkman ng SE eh, except siguro sa screen size which i think is not worth it considering low ppi..
Parang di nila keri maging no. 1 cell phone manufacturer sa mundo ah.
I’d rather let nokia take the crown back and release more meego phones..
I’m disappointer in samsung..
Hope Sony gets into full throttle this year..
Kyle says:
Meh. Samsung are way over their heads with this one. Even with a processor upgrade to a Cortex A8, HVGA res at the 13-15K price point is a highway robbery.
I’d take the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Xperia Ray or Xperia Neo V, all of which occupy the 10-15K bracket, over the Ace Plus anyday.
jose says:
Samsung wanna make Apple more mad by releasing more phones similar to Iphone’s design. I’d choose other phones than this
Gams says:
Samsung? I never had one, except my aircon which is very noisy!
Name: IC DeaDPiPoL says:
was kinda hoping for a Galaxy Ace spec’d phone except with Dual-Core, tegra powered gpu and a front Camera T_T
Obed says:
I don’t know but this does not looks close to iPhone 3GS to me.
baototoy says:
but the writer is certified apple fan kaya yun ang nakita nya
airnolds says:
I thought the title said “Galaxy Note Plus” kaya napa-click agad ako..hehe..
i think they released this too late already..
Iyan Sommerset says:
I think at this point, they’re doing it on purpose and releasing copycat phones in areas where they’re least-liable to be sued and the redesigned ones in the areas where they will be. Might be a passive-aggressive middle finger to Apple, or Samsung is the trollface of phone companies.
Having said that, what differentiates this from the Galaxy W? i.e. why would I choose this over the other? Seems like they have too many overlapping phones now.
tifa says:
galaxy ace still the best for me :-)
Jhon Tomas says:
I use all so samsung galaxy and im very happy with that
Phillip says:
The patent war continues!!!
sonnydjr007 says:
The only thing that keeps me from buying any Samsung Android phone is that it utterly looks like a cheap copycat of an iPhone, is it really hard for them to design their phones that differentiate it from the rest of the competition in the android world? The only desing I like from samsung were the Waves 1,2&3 other than that most are crappy designs. . .
jp says:
Ang R&D ng Samsung ang masasabing one of the best sa mga competitors nito pero yung designer team ang masasabing worst sa mga kalaban nito. Dapat piratahin na rin ng Samsung ang mga industrial designers ng ibang manufacturer.
Roegan Taron says:
So you guys are saying that Samsung’s design team are incapable of their jobs? In reply to Anita Leray’s comment, you’re saying that Sony’s great at designing their phones BUT you’re also saying that Sony’s mobile interface sucks. Isn’t that the same thing? If the user interface is not friendly, it simply means that the design sucks. A good design is defined not only by its looks but also by its usability.
Anita Leray says:
they should get people from sony design dept., sony always is one of the best in the designing of their celfones, their only problem is the user interface of their celfones are not very user friendly
lawrence says:
does samsung have a design team or they’re ripping off iphone’s styles intentionally?
the specs is similar to SE live with walkman except for the screen, which might have bad pixel density due to the resolution-screen size ratio.
for that price point, the best for deal would be xperia neo v. for 13k, u can get original design, good built, decent specs (good screen, 5mp hdcam, hdmi port), plus, which is the most important, is a guarantee upgrade to ICS!!
bOkz says:
SAMSUNG! Why!? Why!? Is it that hard to design a phone?
Rho Gan Yan says:
Why yes sir. It’s hard to design a phone. It’s not just about making the phone look visually great. A lot of factors have to be considered like the design’s user experience, production cost, etc. Samsung may be copying Apple but I can’t blame them. Apple’s the king of well-built products. And by well-built, I mean making a good-looking phone without compromising a good user experience.
yumax says:
And this won’t be updated to ICS, like their Galaxy S line. Just get the Nexus S SLCD version, around the same price now but with Android 4.0
NemOry says:
Still a bad looking phone.
jdGONEMAD says:
Samsung is making it hard for us consumers to decide on what to buy and when to buy since a newer and better phone always comes out immediately.
arsie says:
Well, Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is not actually “better” than the previous and recent releases from Samsung. But if you are referring to better than the previous budget and mid-range android smartphone then I will definitely agree.
jack says:
I would prefer SAMSUNG GALAXY W I8150 if the price is more than 15k.
