Samsung launches its new mid-range Exynos 1330 and 1380 processors for its Galaxy A range of smartphones. Both chips are 5G compatible and promise to bring faster performance to consumers.

The Exynos 1380 is the higher end of the 2 and is a 5nm based processor, four ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4Ghz, four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2Ghz and a MALI-G68 MP5 GPU clocked at 950MHZ. It can run devices with Full HD+ resolution with LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 RAM as well as UFS 3.1 storage.

An integrated Triple ISP supports up to 200MP cameras with 64MP resolution with 0 shutter lag. It also supports 4K recording at 30fps with EIS, as well as support for real time object recognition. The processor is also 5G enabled and supports mmWave and sub-6GHz networks, with peak download speeds of up to 1.28Gbps. Support for BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and a USB Type-C port is also present. The Exynos 1380 will be used in the Galaxy A54 5G.

The Exynos 1330 is another 5nm chipset that is engineered towards entry level smartphones. It has two Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz, six Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2GHz, and the Mali-G68 MP2 GPU. It can drive Full HD+ resolution displays at a 120Hz refresh rate, and is compatible with LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 DRAM chips and UFS 2.2/UFS 3.1 storage.

The ISP supports up to 108MP cameras and can shoot 32Mp images with 0 shutter lag. The MFC (Multi Format Codec) can record and play 4K 30fps videos in HEVC, H.264, and VP8 codecs.

The Exynos 1330 also features a built-in 5G modem capable of capable of sub-6GHz 5G networks. It can hit speeds download speeds up to 2.55Gbps and upload speeds of up to 1.28Gbps. Other notable features includes, support for BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. This chipset will be used in the Galaxy A14 5G and we expect it to be also used in other lower-end Galaxy A smartphones.
