Sony has a slightly new handset as a successor to the Xperia S. The Sony Xperia SL is basically the Xperia S with a 200MHz bump in processor speed.
This introduction reminds us of the time when the then Sony-Ericsson also introduced the Xperia Arc S with a faster processor compared to the similarly-design Xperia Arc.
So that’s a bump from a dual-core 1.5GHz to a dual-core 1.7GHz.
Sony Xperia SL specs:
4.3-inch HD Reality Display @ 1280×720 pixels, 342ppi
Mobile Bravia Engine
Qualcomm S3 MSM8260
Snapdragon 1.7GHz dual-core processor
1GB RAM
1.5GB built-in storage
32GB external storage (non-removable)
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA
Bluetooth 2.1
NFC support
GPS w/ aGPS support
12.1MP Exmor R rear camera
1080p video recording
1.3MP front facing camera
720p video recording
micro-HDMI out
Li-Ion 1750mAh battery
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
The changes might not be that much but it seems coincidental that Google has also announced it is supporting the Xperia S under the AOSP (Android Open Source Project).
Meaning, the Xperia S will be getting some special treatment from Google the same way the Nexus line gets first dibs on the lastest Android updates.

Is it the same as this: http://www.widgetcity.com.ph/product/mobile-phone/sony/sony-xperia-s-lt26i? I was thinking of getting this or Xperia Acro S. Which is better? :) thanks!
princess says:
xperia acro s is better. xperia acro has 12 mp and 1.3 front-facing camera. what make it better is that its dust and water resistance.

Yan ang strategy ng Sony, in my opinion. Hindi nila binubuhos/tinotodo lahat ng hardware for just one device. They’re saving it for their upcoming devices, codenamed “Mint” and “Hayabusa”.
That’s why they have:
Xperia S – 12 MP camera, sharpest display
Xperia P – 8 MP camera, WhiteMagic Technology
Xperia U – 5 MP camera, Dolby Sound Technology
Xperia sola – Floating touch
Xperia go and acro S – Water and dust resistant
Can’t wait for their newest devices! :)

…and it has also the sharpest display, beating all other smartphones out there.
Aaaaa says:
Too bad it’s using an outdated processor. Sony should have used an S4 for this.
