Sony Xperia Z4 officially unveiled in Japan!

The wait for Sony’s next flagship smartphone is over as the company just unveiled the Xperia Z4 in Japan!

sony xperia z4

Sony announced the Xperia Z4 tablet just last March, and here is its smartphone counterpart: the Sony Xperia Z4 packs the same 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 display wrapped around a thinner 6.9mm 144g metal and glass chassis, but is now powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 CPU paired with 3GB RAM. It should pack improved camera features (especially on the front), but basically, everything else that’s good with its predecessors are here to stay, such as the micro SD card slot, waterproofing and the like.

There is no compact version however, and we have no information regarding availability outside Japan, but we’re sure it’s going to be really soon.

sony is sony. thats it. its either you buy it or just stare at it coz you can’t afford it. had an ultra, a z1 and now a z3. I will wait for the z4 ultra coz ultra for me is the “beast”

mganda nga xperia sobrang mahal naman dapat nasa 25k max price lang para afford kaya namumulubi ang sony ee maka priced wagas. all aspects superb ang sony. please update SONY VAIO Z CANVASS and ROG G20 if any.

If over-price yan, paano na ung SAMSUNG. If Samsung can afford to lower its price in less than a year, it may shows that these are overprice.

We can’t blame Sony. Designing a new flagship or even just redefining the concept of a series takes a lot of time and effort. It’s not as easy as some people might think. And besides, the entire Xperia Z Series revolutionized the term smartphone itself. Every smartphone in this flagship series just screams ‘power’ and ‘elegance’. There’s no doubt about that.

I’m with Tian and he’s right. Kazam of England I like em very much too and they copied their design to Xperia.Xperia is way better than Samsung. Eversince when handyphone launched,Samsung is nowhere and during that time Sony-Ericsson is among the leading brand. I was born Sony and everything at home made by Sony.@Easy E, let’s try man throwing away your brand and my Xperia in septic tank and we’ll see if your brand of smartphone will still alive. Easy E can only afford to acquire CM,SM,MP n TM. Just accept the truth that Xperia is too expensive for you. You never had experience with Xperia that’s why you have no idea how Xperia works.

The top and bottom bezels are way too big. Considering it has on screen navigation buttons.

    • Avatar for aha aha says:

sus! bakit ka magkakasya na lamang sa performance.. imagine kung maganda na ang design ng phone nila, sulit pa sa performance.

parang ganito lang yan… bakit ka makukuntento sa quality over quantiy kung pwede at posible namang namang quantity with quality.

o kaya bakit ka pipili ng taong panget pero maganda ang ugali, kesa sa maganda nga panget naman ang ugali… kung makakapili ka naman ng maganda na, maganda pa ang ugali.

Xperia Z still has some room to change the design:
      1. Rear camera placement. They still placed it in a way that it can easily be accidentally blocked with fingers
      2. Bottom bezel. I don’t care much about the top. It’s the bottom bezel that makes this awkward to use one-handed as your thumb have to travel further into the screen. HTC One btw is even worse.
      3. Slippery body. It claims to be waterproof but it’s slippery to use with your hand once it is splashed with water.

I’ve used HTC One, Xperia Z and the Samsung Galaxy S series in my line of work. Among the three phones, Xperia Z feels the fattest and sharpest (on the edges) on hand which makes it uncomfortable to use for a longer period of time.

Both the HTC One and the Sony Z series need to overhaul their design if they want to keep pace with Samsung. Just because they look good doesn’t mean it’s all that. Ergonomically speaking, those two companies still has a considerable room to improve their design. And from a naming convention standpoint, their flagships this year should have been just called has HTC One M9s and Xperia Z3s respectively. They are now in the same position where Samsung was before for the past couple of years. They’ve become stagnant and drank their own kool-aid thinking their designs are perfect.

From a performance perspective, the three companies are practically the same with the exception of the camera where Galaxy excels and the battery life where Xperia Z excels.

What I don’t understand with Sony is why they could not excel at the camera considering Samsung uses Sony’s own sensors.

Subjective naman po ang design issue… Kung hindi type ng tao ang isang phone, malamang hindi para sa kanya iyon ;) Para sa akin, gusto ko nga ang design ng Xperia eh. Simple lang, and somehow, the design looks modern-y; hindi curvy. Type ko din yung boxy-look ng Sony Xperia phones. Having said that, out na para sa akin ang design style ng Samsung phones.

My phone types: Sony Xperia, IPhone, HTC (although curvy, atleast hindi mukhang Samsung-style :p )
