Soon: Samsung Halo i8520, Galaxy 5 i5500

Spotted in the one of the stores in Shopesville, GreenHills are two upcoming Android smartphones from Samsung — the Samsung i8520 (Halo) and the Galaxy 5 i5500.

The Samsung Halo i8520 is more commonly known as the Galaxy Beam comes with a built-in projector (3.7″ Super AMOLED, 720MHz processor, Android 2.1). The stores puts the estimated price at Php29,000USD 494INR 41,893EUR 471CNY 3,599+.

The Samsung i5500 Galaxy 5 is the cheaper model and also known as the Corby Smartphone. Also comes with Android 2.1 running on a 600MHz processor. The estimated price is Php9,000USD 153INR 13,001EUR 146CNY 1,117+.

Of course, these are gray market prices and could change once the handsets are officially introduced in the Philippines. I think the Samsung Galaxy S will remain as their flagship phone.

This is GOOD NEWS! Another affordable Android phone! I hope Mr. Olandres estimated price of the Samsung Galaxy 5 i5500 will be right. Happy days of Apple iPhone will soon be over.

Looks like Droid phones are becoming cheaper and cheaper… now they are way below the 10K threshold. But I’d still wait for a read droid phone that carry froyo or just get the new BB 9800, though this will really be expensive.
