DISPLAY
Looking at their displays, both smartphones have an identical display setup. The 5.5-inch screen size partnered with a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution provides good viewing experience for users who are fond of watching videos at high quality. One main difference, however, is their screen protection. The K8 Note has Corning Gorilla glass protection while the Redmi Note 4X does not have one. With this, it is clear which smartphone will likely survive or is more durable when dropped.
CPU AND GPU
If we look at their CPUs and GPUs closely, we already know which one has the upper hand. The K8 Note has the MediaTek Helio X23 chipset while the Redmi Note 4X has the Helio X20 chipset. It has been said that the former chipset has a performance increase of up to 20% compared with the latter. We can safely say that the Helio X23 is the better performing CPU. As for their GPUs, both smartphones carry the Mali-T880 GPU which is more than enough for a good gaming experience.
CAMERA
As for the camera department, the K8 Note has a higher front camera resolution compared to the Redmi Note 4X. It also has a dual rear camera setup, however, the latter’s dual rear LED flash will give brighter lighting for shots taken in dark environments. We do not have sample shots for the K8 Note but we will definitely get some once we got our hands on it. You can check out the sample shots of the Redmi Note 4X in our review of the device here.
BATTERY
In terms of battery, the Redmi Note 4X has a slightly larger battery capacity than the K8 Note. Both smartphones also have fast charging technologies so users won’t have any problems charging their phones. We do not have any data for the battery life of the latter but the former lasted for 11 Hours and 6 Minutes during our tests. Rest assured, we will be testing the battery life of the K8 Note if we get our hands on a unit.
OVERALL PERFORMANCE
In terms of overall performance, we can say that the K8 Note wins since it has a better performing CPU compared to the Redmi Note 4X. Note that even the Snapdragon 625 variant of the same smartphone is below the performance of the Helio X23 and Helio X20, however, it is the most power efficient among the three. In terms of viewing experience, both smartphones will provide the same 5.5-inch Full HD experience. For Gaming, both can deliver a smooth gaming experience and handle heavy games with ease.
OTHER FEATURES
Before we end this comparison, let us have a look at some distinct feature differences. The K8 Note has Corning Gorilla Glass screen protection and Stock Android as its main UI while the Redmi Note 4X doesn’t have screen protection and is run by the company’s custom MIUI.
PRICE
The Lenovo K8 Note is priced at Php13,999 but during Lazada’s Online Revolution Sale, it will be priced at only Php8,999. The Redmi Note 4X (Helio X20 variant), on the other hand, is priced at Php9,988 (see price listing here).
Both smartphones have great performances for under 10k. Which smartphone would you like to have? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
Xiaomi has a very strange naming convention. But to set things straight (based on research)
Redmi Note 4 has 2 variants, one has the MediaTek chip and the other uses Snapdragon while the Redmi Note 4X only uses Snapdragon
i brought Xiaomi note 4x with MediaTek Helio x20.
AFAIK the Redmi Note 4X has the Snapdragon 625. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 4 has the Helio processor.
Ang mediatek bumabal pag umiinit na (processor). Ang SD, stable ang performance kahit mainit na.
