Nokia 7
+ Higher screen resolution
+ 2.5D Curved Glass
+ Better performing CPU
+ Better performing GPU
+ USB Type-C
+ NFC
+ IP54 dust and splash resistance
Vivo V7 Plus
+ Larger screen size
+ Dedicated microSD card slot
+ Higher front camera resolution
+ Facial ID scanner
+ Slightly larger battery
In terms of display, even though the V7 Plus has slim-bezels and is equipped with FullView display, the Nokia 7 still has the upper hand with its 1920 x 1080 resolution. For viewing experience, it will be somewhat a draw since screen size and screen resolution are both important. Users will then pick if they want a better viewing quality with screen resolution or a larger screen size to watch videos with.
As for CPU and GPU, the Snapdragon 450 is a new chipset from Qualcomm that is made for low-to-mid tier level smartphones. It can also be dubbed as the “mini SD 625” since it possesses a 14nm architecture. However, comparing the chipset with the Snapdragon 630, the latter has the upper hand while looking at their benchmark scores. We will be getting the benchmark score of the Nokia 7 once we get our hands on it but for now, we can check out the score that we got from the ASUS Zenfone 4 SD630 variant. The V7 Plus only received a score of 56,623 while the ZF4 got a 68,216 one. It is clear that even the GPU of the latter is better in terms of gaming potential.
For their camera quality, we will be getting sample shots from the Nokia 7 once we get our hands on it but for now, we can safely say that it will bring out good photo qualities since it’s equipped with a Zeiss lens. For the V7 Plus, it’s evident that it’s a more selfie-centric device so it focuses more on its front cam. You can check out our sample photos here.
As for their battery capacity, the V7 Plus has a slightly larger battery than the Nokia 7 and upon testing it, the smartphone lasted for 13 Hours and 30 minutes. We will also be testing the battery performance of the latter once we get our hands on it.
For overall performance, it is clear that the Nokia 7 has the upper hand with its CPU and GPU. Daily tasks and gaming won’t be a problem for both smartphones since they are equipped with decent processors.
The Nokia 7 is priced at ¥2,499 (~ Php 19,388.10) for the 4GB variant and ¥2,699 (~ Php 20,939.77) for the 6GB variant while the Vivo V7 Plus is priced at Php17,990 (see price listing here)
