OPPO has just released their new budget smartphone in the Philippines, sporting a 5.2-inch HD display, Snapdragon 450 chipset, 2GB RAM, and 3,000mAh battery, the OPPO A71 (2018). We’ll pit it against a popular entry-level smartphone that’s been in the market for a while but is set to officially launch in the country soon, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A.

As you can see, both are entry-level smartphones with the OPPO A71 (2018) being the newer one and is set to be available in the Philippine market tomorrow. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A was announced in December 2017 and has already made its way in the country through online sellers but will only be officially available next week.
The A71 (2018) has a slightly larger screen at 5.2-inches, while the Redmi 5A sits at 5.0-inches. Both, however, have the same HD resolution, with the former having a lower 282ppi versus the latter’s 294ppi. But isn’t a big deal since it’s not that noticeable in day-to-day use.
When it comes to imaging, both phones sport the same rear and front camera resolutions. The Redmi 5A has a larger camera aperture for the front shooter, while the A71 (2018) features OPPO’s A.I. Beauty Technology.
As for other features, both phones offer the same thing, or lack thereof, like 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB. Both don’t have fingerprint scanners, but the Redmi 5A has an Ir blaster which is a handy tool for controlling appliances.
Both devices have 2GB RAM,16GB storage with a dedicated microSD card slot, Android Nougat, and 3,000mAh battery. However, the A71 (2018) has the advantage of having a more powerful Snapdragon 450 chipset with the Adreno 506 GPU, which is capable of handling plenty of mobile games.
The OPPO A71 (2018) is priced at Php7,990, while the Xiaomi Redmi 5A’s official price for the Philippines is yet to be announced, although listings at Lazada puts it at under Php6K.

I have a Xiaomi phone given to me by a friend and also bought a Vivo7. They have very large difference when it comes to processor and others but I won’t give off my Xiaomi when it comes to taking pictures. Even the sales lady was amazed when I showed her my Xiaomi phone. It doesn’t pixellize even when zoomed to the maximum.

Hindi match, kc ang snapdragon 450 is almost the same as the 625, while the snapdragon 425 is used by Xiaomi sa cheapest devices nila (Redmi 4A, Redmi 5A). Dapat Redmi 5 which has snapdragon 450 as well.
