Xiaomi recently released a new smartphone in India, sporting a 5.99-inch display, octa-core processor, up to 6GB RAM, 64GB storage, dual-rear cameras, and a large 4,000mAh battery, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. However, there’s another smartphone in the market that packs similar specs, the Doogee Mix 2. Let’s compare the two smartphones to which one looks better on paper.

Summary of advantages
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro:
* Option for 4GB RAM
* Higher front camera resolution w/ LED flash
* VoLTE support
* Ir Blaster
* Thinner and lighter
Doogee Mix 2
* Option for 128GB storage
* Higher rear camera resolution
* Dual-front cameras
* USB Type-C
* Face Unlock
* Slightly higher battery capacity
Based on the summary above, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has the advantage in terms of providing options for the users. They can go for the top-of-the-line model with 6GB RAM or settle with 4GB RAM if budget is a concern. Storage-wise, both phones start with 64GB of storage but the Doogee Mix 2 has a 128GB variant, which, unfortunately, is not available in the Philippines.
Both smartphones have good dual-rear camera specs with the Doogee Mix 2 having the upper hand when it comes to resolution. The Redmi Note 5 Pro, however, has a lone front camera but sports a higher 20MP resolution with LED flash. The Mix 2 is still commendable in the selfie department with its two 8MP shooters with one having a wide-angle lens. Of course, the resolution alone is not enough as we also have to factor in the type of sensor. Doogee didn’t mention the details of its cameras, but Xiaomi equipped the Redmi Note 5 Pro with Sony sensors which are one of the best out there.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro packs extra features like IR Blaster which is a convenient feature especially if you lost your TV’s remote, for example. There’s VoLTE as well but his feature depends on the network if it is supported. The Mix 2 is not to be left behind with its USB-C port, and Face Unlock feature.
Performance-wise, both have octa-core chipsets with the Redmi Note 5 Pro having a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, while the Mix 2 has the MediaTek Helio P25. Both run on Android Nougat. We’re yet to compare its real-life performance once we have reviewed both phones.
Both devices are clad in metal with Gorilla Glass on the front but the Redmi Note 5 Pro is thinner and lighter. They also have almost the same battery capacity with fast charging but the Mix 2 wins by just a mere 60mAh.
The Doogee Mix 2 is currently available at Lazada for Php12,995 (see listing here). The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is yet to arrive in the Philippines but the Indian market has it for Rs. 13,999 (~Php11,365) for the 4GB + 64GB variant and Rs. 16,999 (~Php13,801) for the 6GB + 64GB.
