Spotted: Acer Liquid Jade S with 64bit, octa-core LTE

The successor to the Acer Liquid Jade is now equipped with a 64-bit octa-core processor and LTE-capable. Powered by a MediaTek MT6752M chip, we recently spotted the Liquid Jade S in the wild but will soon land in the Philippines.

The original Liquid Jade was a looker but the MediaTek quad-core processor and 1GB of memory was not enough to give it a fluid and snappy performance.

The Liquid Jade S has addressed all that with a more powerful chip that is also LTE-capable.

Acer certainly bumped up the hardware configuration of the Jade S, including the use of Gorilla Glass 3 and a generous 2GB of RAM.

Acer Liquid Jade S specs:
5-inch HD IPS Zero Air Gap display @ 720×1280 pixels, 294ppi
Corning Gorilla Glass 3
MediaTek MT6752M 1.5GHz octa-core processor
Mali-T760 GPU
2GB RAM
16GB internal storage
microSD card support
13 megapixel rear camera w/ LED flash, f/1.8 aperture
2 megapixel front camera
Dual-SIM, Dual-Standby
4G LTE, 3G HSPA+
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0 w/ A2DP
GPS, A-GPS
microUSB 2.0
DTS audio
2,300mAh non-removable battery
Android 4.4.4 KitKat
143 x 69 x 7.78mm (dimensions)
116 grams (weight)

Unlike the original Liquid Jade that has a glossy finish, the Jade S has a more textured finish at the back with a criss-cross pattern.

The global announcement earlier this month pegs the suggested retail price of a little over Php10,000 but local pricing could be higher or similar to the original SRP of the Liquid Jade which is Php14,990.

Our guesstimate is somewhere around Php12,990 but Acer might just be bold enough to sell it at Php9,990. Expect the Liquid Jade S to arrive 1st quarter of 2015.
