Starmobile announced last month the Knight Elite – a smartphone with a 5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 615 octa-core CPU, LTE connectivity, 13 megapixel BSI camera, and Android Lollipop. Is the Knight Elite worth getting for the price of almost Php10K? We answer that question in our review below.
Design and Construction
One of the things that Starmobile is flaunting about the Knight Elite is its design and build. The company claims it to be beautifully crafted, elegant, and tough. I can say that those claims hold true in certain aspects.
Beautifully crafted and elegant as it uses a sleek design that reminds us of the Sony Xperia line. We have the Xperia M4 Aqua on hand and the similarities are not hard to point out.
Up front we have the 5-inch display with Full HD resolution. Situated above it are the receiver, 5 megapixel front camera, LED flash, and light sensors. The Knight Elite uses on-screen navigation buttons so there’s some unused space down below.
On the left are the buttons for the volume and power / lock. Also hiding here is the notifications light. The buttons are very clicky, and like the surrounding frame, has a metallic finish.
Found on the right side is the SIM card tray that can accommodate two SIM cards (micro + nano), and a microSD card but at the expense of SIM 2 slot.
Found right up top is the headset jack and microphone, down at the bottom are the microUSB port, microphone, and loudspeaker.
Flip it on its back and you will see the 13-megapixel camera, LED flash, and the Starmobile branding.
The Knight Elite feels nice on the hands thanks to the curved sides and glass front and back which is made from Corning’s Gorilla Glass.
Although the sides are not really metal and the design is not totally unique to the device, it’s attractive and one of the nicest smartphones we’ve seen from Starmobile.
I need Stock Rom for Starmobile Knight Elite Please.. Can you Send some Link for that huhuhu 1 year ko lang nagamit … Sayang Pera Ko sana may makakatunlong TY po
Got a problem with this unit. I bought it as my second phone but after a few days, the unit would just stopped showing display and after few seconds of showing, it would return back again to its problem. The store where I bought the unit changed it with the same model. Thereafter, I encountered problem with charging and returned it back to the store for the second time. After a few minutes of examining the phone, the sales clerk figured out that the reason why the phone wont charge is that the tip of the charger, the one being inserted on the phone, was not pushed very well. Well, I let that one passed. However, a few days thereafter, I had to return it again because the unit just stopped working one day. Of course, they again fixed it. But to my disappointment, I encountered the same problem yesterday and I had to bring it back again to the service center. They told me that I was the only one who had complained about the said phone, but I reminded them of the first unit that they had to replace too. So, I don’t really know what’s the problem of the phone when in fact, I don’t use it that much, because I have an Iphone 6S plus and a big lenovo phone.
may fb group po for elite users, nandun po yung guide for rooting. succcessful naman ako sa pag root. may custom recovery na din. :)
How to root this elite? Can someone help me?
Looking forward to removing the bloatwares and adding root-featured apps.
Repair is too expensive, i bought Knight Elite last 2 weeks ago, very frustrating that the glass cover of the LCD was broken, nalaglag sia sa 1foot lng kataas na kama. i brought to Starmobile for service and then they quoted me for almost 4k. 3,610.00 for the front assembly plus 350.00 service fee.. not reasonable because the problem is only the glass cover of the LCD but they have to quote the entire panel.. price of the unit is 6,490.00 only. kung gagastos ka ng 4k para sa repair ay hndi na reasonable dahil ang daming phones jan na mabibili lng ng worth of 4k, same specs na sa unit na ito. my point is hindi worth it mag pa repair kapag nasira mo kahit tempered glass lng. isip isip, kung ako d na bibili ng star mobile. what if magaya kayo sa akin, d ko naman ginusto na mabagsak ko, iniingatan ko naman pero nangyayari talaga ang aksidente. once it happen, your mobile considered garbage.
But, as mentioned on the specs of the phone. The screen is One-glass solution. It means… that the GLASS and the SCREEN is laminated and intact. So, if the glass is broken, you need to replace the whole screen. Same as the Samsung Galaxy S phones, iPhone devices, Sony Xperia and other OGS screen devices.
its cool. .but, i want to ask if the battery is it built-in???
i do have this phone. but i cant manage to do any awesome shots. can u please give me the configuration/set up for this cam?
Hi Zzee, it’s just standard Auto and sufficient amount of natural light. Make sure that you wipe the lens first before shooting to make sure that images are sharp.
battery life were not discussed.
It is a feature that I look out for
Ito, Flare X or Xiaomi Mi 4i ? Suggestion naman po para sa pasko. Thanks :)
Mi 4i before this, however, you don’t have the option to expand the memory on it. Your call.
not the admin/author
