Smart has a new phone on the block and they partnered with Starmobile to bring to the masses. This is the Starmobile Play Click, an Android handset with very modest specs similar to the previous MyPhone my28 with a bigger display at 4.5 inches and pricier tag of Php 1,288. How does the Play Click fare? Here’s our quick impressions for it.
The Starmobile Play Click is your run-of-the-mill budget smartphone and there’s nothing special here. It’s got a quad-core processor from Spreadtrum and a Mali-400MP2 GPU. RAM is 512MB and storage is just 4GB which in reality, you just have 1.58GB left to play with.
The device is a standard candy bar phone with a 4.5-inch TFT display @ 480 x 854 pixels, so viewing angles are limited and picture quality is nothing to write home about. Up front are the big Smart logo plus the earpiece and front-facing camera. The usual trio of capacitive keys are at the bottom.
The power/lock button is located on the right-hand side leaving the left bare. The 3.5mm jack and micro-USB port are both at the top while the only the microphone is at the bottom.
The back is pretty clean with the main camera and its LED flash, the Starmobile branding, and the speaker grille.
The whole device feels solid and well-built for its price. Speaking of price, this model is Php 400 more expensive than the previous Smart partnered smartphone with MyPhone. The difference? You’re getting a bigger display and a slightly larger battery. If you missed the chance of getting the my28, you can get a cheap smartphone again with Smart.
It comes with a free Smart and TNT SIM card and 1 year of free data at 100MB/month and Php30 monthly load reward when you accumulate Php100/month.
The Starmobile Play Click bundle from Smart will be available for Php 1,288 and an additional Php 100 for the mandatory prepaid load card purchase. You can avail of this through Smart and Starmobile stores nationwide, and online through Smart Online Store. It will come in three colors — champagne, silver, and dark gray colors. If you wish for an unlocked, open-line version, you can grab one for Php 2,690.
