The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) of Ukraine has just announced that Xiaomi has been added to its list of international war sponsors.
The NACP of Ukraine cited the reason for Xiaomi’s inclusion is due to the fact that Xiaomi still continues its business in the Russian Federation since its war started, with Xiaomi being a leader in smartphone sales in Russia.
They also noted that Xiaomi had managed to increase deliveries to the Russian Federation by 39% in Q3 of 2022 whilst also announcing the sale of new flagship phones and increasing recruitments in its Russian offices.
This led Ukraine to conclude that Xiaomi is “sponsoring the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine”.
Xiaomi also joins other notable companies that have been labeled as international war sponsors by Ukraine such as Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Yves Rocher.
Xiaomi has also issued a statement that it’s “strongly against” the label as an international war sponsor by Ukraine. Xiaomi noted its belief that every consumer should have the right to access communication tools and information on the Internet.
They also further emphasized that Xiaomi operates in over 100 countries and regions and that it has adhered to the laws and regulations of each respective jurisdiction.
This Xiaomi phone I’m holding right now will be the last Xiaomi phone ever!
