Mobile gaming has gone mainstream thanks to the huge mobile gaming development and the release of powerful smartphones that are capable of running those apps. This also gave birth to expensive “gaming smartphones” that offer hardware and software features to improve the experience. But do you really need those? What if you can have a similar experience from a smartphone that costs less? Let’s take a closer look at the vivo T1 5G.
So a quick background, the vivo T1 5G is part of the new models that vivo recently introduced in the Philippines, and will grow alongside the already-available NEX, S, Y, V, and X series. The company is associating the letter ‘T’ with ‘Turbo’ to highlight its gaming-centric features that we will discuss below.

6.44-inch AMOLED 90Hz display
One of the most important components to consider when immersing yourself in gaming is the display. In the case of the vivo T1 5G, we have a large 6.44-inch screen with Full HD+ resolution or equal to 409ppi. What this means is that you have a sharp and abundant screen real estate to provide enough space for your controls as well as an immersive experience while gaming.
The AMOLED screen, on the hand, will provide you with a vibrant screen with punchy colors, deep blacks, and good viewing angles. Not only that, it also has a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth animations and transitions.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 5G, 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage
If performance is your concern, do not worry as the vivo T1 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 5G chipset. This is a relatively new chipset that Qualcomm released in 2021, designed for mobile gaming in premium mid-range smartphones. It is manufactured using the 6nm process and contains an octa-core CPU clocked at a maximum of 2.4GHz, and an Adreno 642L GPU.
When it comes to memory, it can match flagship devices in terms of capacity. It has an 8GB RAM, which is enough to handle heavy multitasking, yet can still be extended with an additional 4GB via the Extended RAM 2.0 feature. What it does is it can borrow up to 4GB from the ROM and assist the RAM for smoother performance. You don’t have to worry about storage though, as it has 128GB to accommodate those big apps and other large files.
If you’re wondering how it performs on benchmarks, it got a score of 568,448 on AnTuTu v9.
5G connectivity
There are still many smartphones in this price range that lack 5G, but good thing it’s a given for the vivo T1 5G. Now that 5G is aggressively rolling out across the country, it’s good to know that your device supports the new and fast network. Not only that, it supports Dual Mode 5G meaning the NSA (Non-Standalone Access) and SA (Standalone Access) 5G network modes.
For those not familiar, NSA uses the current 4G network facilities to get more speed and higher bandwidth. Your 5G smartphone will connect to 5G or 4G depending on the network conditions.
SA, on the other hand, is the true 5G network and uses dedicated 5G facilities to provide faster and more stable speeds.
What this means is that if you’re mobile gaming, you don’t have to worry about getting poor connections. The vivo T1 5G will connect to the fastest network available to ensure you’re always connected, even if you’re moving around.
4,700mAh battery w/ 66W fast charging
“Low-bat!” is just one of the things you don’t want to blurt out when you’re in the middle of a game. Good thing the vivo T1 5G has a 4,700mAh battery, which is a good capacity for this caliber, and won’t easily drain after multiple rounds of intense battles.
And if ever you hit the red line and need to recharge the battery, the 66W Ultra-Fast Charging can bring you back to 50% charge in just 18 minutes, which is impressive! You and your friends won’t have to wait that long for you to get back in the game.
Ultra Game Mode
One of the things that gaming smartphones have is software features that can enhance the gaming experience. For the vivo T1 5G, it has an Ultra Game Mode that automatically launches with your game. But before opening your game, make sure that Ultra Game Mode is activated by pulling down the shortcut menu from the top, swipe till you see Ultra Game Mode, then tap on it.
When you’re in the game, just swipe from the left, and it will pull up a dashboard that lets you choose between Balance and Performance modes, and access features like Eagle eye view which enhances the colors, activate Background calls, Mute notifications, Reject calls, Record Screen, 4D Game Vibration, and Screenshots, to name a few.
These features are here to make sure that you get an optimized and uninterrupted gaming experience, whether you’re a casual player, a serious gamer, or content creator.
Flagship-Standard Cooling
Heat is one of the enemies of performance in a mobile device. That’s why gaming smartphones have built-in cooling systems. The vivo T1 5G implements its own by using an industry-leading Vapor Chamber Cooling System that uses the eight cooling technologies:
• 2,097mm² Vapor Chamber
• magnesium alloy mainboard top cover
• high thermal conductivity gel
• heat dissipation copper foil
• 0.25mm ultra-thick graphite heat dissipation film on the side of the mainboard top cover
• 0.25mm ultra-thick graphite plate on the side of the battery cove
• six temperature sensors
• intelligent temperature control strategy
These technologies work together to make sure that the vivo T1 5G is in its optimum operating temperature to avoid performance throttling and shortened battery life.
64MP Triple-rear cameras
This may not fall under gaming but the vivo T1 5G is also a versatile shooter. If you’re a content creator, you can take advantage of the 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, and the 2MP macro. If you want to do selfies, there’s the 16MP shooter.
Price
Let’s talk about the price. The vivo T1 5G comes in Turbo Black and Turbo Cyan and is priced at PHP 16,999, which is way below PHP 20K and is great for those on a budget. It’s stylish and performs well. If ‘Turbo’ should be associated with gaming, this device is definitely Turbo Ready!
