Vivo’s latest device, the V17 Pro, is set to make its debut in the Philippines soon. A unit has landed in our hands ahead of the launch. Check out what Vivo has to offer with its newest smartphone.
The Vivo V17 Pro comes with a screen measuring at 6.44 inches. There’s no notch to be found anywhere, allowing the V17 Pro to have an almost-full display with very slim bezels surrounding the panel. Constructed with glass, the V17 Pro feels premium in the hands. It does feel a little slippery, though, and easily attracts fingerprints. The handset also has a little weight to it, making us wonder if that’s due to the dual pop-up front cameras of the device. Despite that, it’s robust and comfortable to hold.
Turning the device, we’re greeted with this eye-catching colorway that Vivo dubs as Glacier Ice. It has a pearlescent gradient effect to it when the light hits, making the device incredibly attractive. One can also see the quad-camera setup on the rear, composed of 48MP + 8MP + 13MP + 2MP shooters, arranged vertically. The snappers are grouped by two, with the LED flash situated in between the lenses. The setup sits on the upper center of the device.
The V17 Pro employs a pop-up mechanism that houses not just one, but two front cameras, consisting of 32MP + 8MP snappers.
Situated on either side of the pop-up camera are the microphone and the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Located on the right is the power button, along with the volume rocker. The buttons are clicky and tactile.
On the left side, one can find a dedicated Google Assistant button. It’s easy to reach and has the same tactility as the power button. Some users would easily confuse it for a power button, though.
A dual SIM tray, microphone, USB-C port, and a single downward-firing speaker can be found at the bottom.
Snapdragon 675AIE powers up the V17 Pro, with Funtouch OS 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie running as its operating system. Other features include 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a battery capacity of 4,100mAh.
Vivo is set to launch the V17 Pro this coming October 9. Stay tuned for our full review of this device.
