vivo V25 5G In-Depth Hands-on

What if we tell you there’s a smartphone that changes its color according to the temperature around it?

Well, that’s the hook that the vivo V25 5G is hoping to catch customers’ attention with—and we believe they did just that.

At first glance, the vivo V25 5G’s bright back panel is the first thing you will notice. Not only is the blue-gold color eye-catching, but it shines whenever any light hits it. But not only that, as mentioned earlier, the V25 has a color-changing trick up its sleeve.

When exposed to different temperatures, the V25’s back panel changes colors. At room temperature, the back panel shows a blue-gold mix as seen below.

But in hotter conditions, the panel changes into a crispy yellow-orange that’s perfect for a summer day.

The color-changing back panel is a cool differentiator for the V25 that we see can definitely be a fun conversation starter. Do note though that only the Aquamarine Blue and Sunrise Gold variants of the V25 have the color-changing back panel, while the Diamond Black model does not.

In terms of build quality, the V25 features boxy corners, chamfered edges, and a glass back that makes the phone not only comfortable to hold but gives it a very premium feel.

For its display, the v25 has a 6.44-inch AMOLED screen with a 2404 x 1080 resolution. The display produces good colors and has strong enough brightness. vivo also opted to give the V25 a solid 90 Hz refresh rate, which we feel is a good balance in providing a fast and responsive display that doesn’t kill battery life.

For the camera department, the V25 has three camera modules: a 64-megapixel Main, an 8-megapixel Super Wide, and a 2-megapixel Super Macro.

As with most smartphones these days, the V25 can produce great photos in good enough lighting.

What surprised us, though, is how the V25 faired in low light conditions. In night mode, the v25 captured great low-light images that didn’t suffer from any grain or a lack of sharpness. Here are some sample photos taken with the V25’s Night Mode.

For its selfie camera, the V25 has a 50-megapixel front camera with an F2.0 aperture. We found that it was able to take good selfies even in tough conditions, such as this photo that was taken mid-afternoon.

For video, the V25 provides a max capacity of 4k shooting at 30 frames per second.

In terms of performance, the V25 packs a MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset, a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, and 8GB of RAM (which can be extended up to 16GB).

With our testing, we got great performance and a smooth overall user experience from the V25. Games such as Call of Duty Mobile and Mobile Legends ran buttery smooth on the V25. Benchmark results from PCMark, GeekBench, Antutu, and 3D Mark also showed that the V25 was a tough performer.

For battery, the V25 sports a 4500 mah battery with 44W fast charging. In our testing, the phone was able to last more than a day and a half of casual use.

The only downsides we had for the V25 were that it only has one stereo speaker at the bottom, which could easily be muted, and the fact that it does not have any water resistance or wireless charging.

Other than that, the V25 is a solid all-arounder that provides great cameras, a good display, and solid performance, at a reasonable price. Priced at P23,999the V25 stands as a great middle option among vivo’s V25 series lineup of phones this 2022.
