vivo Y35 Hands-on

vivo recently launched the vivo Y35 in the Philippines. Based on the specs, it looks like a solid daily driver with its large display with a 90Hz refresh rate, capable chipset, large RAM and storage, and a big battery. Read our initial thoughts about it here.

One of the things we noticed about the vivo Y35 is the size. It has a tall frame which can be attributed to the large screen. It has relatively thin bezels but is thicker at the bottom and at the top because of the dew-drop notch for the 16MP selfie camera.

Placed on the right side is the power button that doubles as the fingerprint scanner and the volume buttons. Although the Y35 is a tall device, the buttons are easily reachable since it’s placed near the center of the frame.

Up top, we have the card tray for two nano-sized SIM cards and a microSD card with its dedicated slot.

Down at the bottom is the 3.5mm audio jack, main microphone, USB-C, and loudspeaker.

Flip it on its back and you will see the large camera module for the three cameras — a 50MP main, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth.

For a mid-range smartphone, the Y35 looks and feels premium. It has a frame with a metallic paint job and flat sides, making it feel slimmer despite the 8.28 mm thickness. The frosted finish at the back gives a pleasant texture and repels smudges and fingerprints which keeps it looking pristine. It even has an IP54 rating so it can withstand dust and splashes of water.

Powering the vivo Y35 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset with a 2.4GHz octa-core CPU, Adreno 610 GPU, 8GB of RAM with +8GB Extended RAM function, 256GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 44W fast charging. It may not have 5G, but the rest of the specs already shows that this is a solid daily driver.

The vivo Y35 is now available for only PHP 14,999USD 256INR 21,668EUR 243CNY 1,861 on vivo’s official online stores on Lazada, Shopee, TikTok, and website, and will be in physical stores and kiosks nationwide on September 10.

vivo will also be giving free DITO SIM card and Vonguard earphones until supplies last for customers who will purchase vivo Y35 online.

vivo Y35 is also available for installment plans via Home Credit and Credit Card for 6 up to 18 months, and 6 up to 12 months, respectively.
