While the announcement of the Asus Zenfone 3 pointed to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip with a 2.15GHz quad-core processor. Apparently, there’s another variant that shows a Snapdragon 821 chip, according to marketing materials provided by Asus.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chip is just a slightly faster one with a top clock speed of 2.3GHz or 0.15GHz faster (7%) in terms of raw power.
This also puts into question the actual specs of the $499 starting price tag of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe. It’s most likely that the 4GB/SD820/64GB variant will be priced $499 (~Php23k) while the one with 6GB RAM, SD821 and 128GB storage will be priced a little bit higher.
We’ll definitely know once they arrive this August.
