Last month, I wrote about the possible entry of China phones running Android OS in the smartphone market. Looks like ZTE counld be the first one with their “Smooth” handset.
This Palm Pre-look-alike runs Android OS 1.6 and it ain’t bad-looking either.
According to Engadget, the ZTE Smooth has a 2.8-inch QVGA screen, WiFi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth and GPS. And at only $146, this looks like one hot item to consider (probably the very first Android smartphone under $200) when it comes out in August 2010.
Hat tip to Chadd.
Any updates as to whether this is available locally already?
Wow, what an amazing post! I saw your blog today, this is a really great post you made, keep them coming!
Speaking of China-Android Phones, I think Huawei which manufactures T-Mobile’s PULSE has been in the market long before the phone mentioned above and will be releasing a bunch of other models previewed in MWC last week.
Here’s a good article on $100 (or less) Android phones coming in:

bring them on!
Nice. If it sells below 7k, I’d be getting this one for sure as an extra phone. Yeah, I hope they don’t do much customization on its GUI, and I wish the touch screen would be capacitive.
I hope they won’t easily break (as most China phones do). Will be waiting for the specs and pricing!
to bad they are to far away. at that price, it makes it worth it as a secondary phone.
I’ll definitely buy this kung maganda yung GUI. sana di modified yung GUI. at sana mejo affordable din.. yung HTC magic di ko binili kasi mata-tie up ako sa Plan sa Smart kaya ayoko.. and I’m not sure kung may offer pa sila na ganun. hopefully start na eto na makapasok na talaga sa Philippine market ang Android phones.
You got to give credit to Gloria Arroyo for the effortless marketing!
hahaha..”nice phone for politicians”
hope si mike arroyo nag snasnake na dyan ung chinese version..lolz =D
What’s the cheapest “middle-quality” android phone so far?
*waiting for the full specs*. How about the procie?
Finally! A chinaphone with Android OS! It’s cheap but i hope performance is ok too
ZTE is rather popular (notorious?) here, won’t have a hard time marketing it. Seriously, nice at that price. TIC.
ZTE, yes. Nice phone for politicians.
