Summary of Advantages:

Samsung Galaxy S7
-Water and Dust Resistance
-Dual Sim connectivity
-Lower camera aperture (f/1.7)
-Wireless charging
-Bigger battery capacity

LG G5
-Slightly Bigger Screen
-Removable Battery
-Dual rear cameras
-Bigger camera resolution (front and back)
-Better Wifi and Bluetooth connectivity versions
-Modular design

While Samsung finally got its mojo back with the S7, it played a bit safe as it only offered incremental upgrades versus its predecessor. The water and dust resistance ratings are a welcome treat, and Sammy’s cameras are known to be one of the top-notch. Nevertheless, it trumps the G5 in terms of device battery life and wireless charging capabilities.

LG’s new flagship, on the other hand, took a huge risk by ditching its signature rear keys as a result of product innovation with a new modular design and a rear dual camera setup. While it offers a lower battery capacity, the G5 can be equipped with an additional 1200mAh juice via the camera module, and charging would be easier with a USB-C port.

Both have additional accessories in tow, and offer the same such as a 360-degree VR headset and a camera, but the G5 offers additional ‘friends’ such as a rolling ball that doubles as your home security camera, and a new version of its Tone bluetooth headset.

  1. Gerald says:

I’d go with the S7 edge. It is better than G5 in all aspects (design & style, battery, specs, water & dust resistance, inclusion of sd card, better camera, etc). It is the best smartphone this 2016 . The LG G5 looks definitely ugly and boring. They are just branding it as modular but actually it is not.

  2. Gabrielle Soldevilla says:

I did not know that there is already a microSD with 2 TB capacity… and i thought gorilla glass 5 will be used for samsung. So far S7 is the best for me.. bringing back the expandable memory, water resistance, feature packed camera (although lower pixel) and the design. Waiting for the note 6 though.. :-)

    • Dennis V. Regondola (@Dencio888) says:

I’d rather choose the LG G5 than Samsung S7.. bcoz of the Quality itself, I also consider the new modular design, the Wifi & Bluetooth connectivity and lastly the removable battery.

    • Dennis V. Regondola (@Dencio888) says:

      Actually I have the 200GB microSDXC class 10 90MB/s seeling @ 8799 while 2TB selling at 12,995.

  3. Wishqlang says:

I would go for LG G5, kapag naka ipon na ako heheheheh, medyo di pa kaya ng budget ko eh… siguro kapag after a year medyo mababa na price nito…, crossed fingers?

  4. Oona says:

Note that this is not correct: -Lower camera aperture (f/1.7)

Do take note that f is divided by 1.7 and therefore HIGHER (or in photography, it’s WIDER) than f/1.9.

In fact, technically, you would need to take into consideration the sensor size as well which may also be confusing. Sensor size of 1/2.3 is BIGGER than 1/4. Basically just do the math and consider that .the higher the divisor is, the smaller/narrower the aperture/sensor is and vice versa.

    • Oona says:

Do take note that the sensor size I mentioned is not related to the specs of S7 or G5. It was just an example that photography specs are quite confusing at times.
