Adobe just added generative AI for Acrobat PDF users, intending to ‘transform’ the experience by making information easily accessible.
Adobe announced this feature as the AI Assistant in Acrobat. This new ‘conversational engine’ tool helps users summarize files, answer questions, and make smart recommendations based on content.
AI Assistant in Acrobat can be used with all document formats supported by the app, including Word and PowerPoint. The chatbot follows Adobe’s data security protocols, meaning it won’t retain data from customer documents.
This chatbot aims to reduce time spent for tasks involving loaded text documents. From providing users with hyperlinks going straight to specific information, to consolidating and formatting information into digestible copy—Acrobat users can rely on this new feature for emails, meetings, reports, presentations, and more.
AI Assistant can also evaluate your document’s contents, recommending questions users may find intuitive. This is inclusive of answering a user’s questions about said content. The new tool also generates citations, allowing users to verify sources from content provided.
The new AI Assistant feature is available for Adobe Acrobat subscribers on Standard for $12.99/month (₱726.83), Pro for $19.99/month (₱1,118.51), and Teams subscription plans across desktop and web applications.
Adobe hasn’t mentioned how long AI Assistant is going to be in beta. However, they’ve already plotted out a roadmap for its future capabilities that is rolling out soon.
These include Firefly generative AI model integrations, pulling information from multiple documents, document types, and sources simultaneously—and features for generating first drafts and editing copy.
