AMD Ryzen PRO 7000 series ‘business’ chips announced

AMD has just announced its newest series of processors called the AMD Ryzen PRO 7000 series of mobile and desktop processors.

The new processors are geared toward business applications and machines.

Let’s start with the AMD Ryzen PRO 7000 series mobile processors.

It will feature up to eight Zen 4 cores, up to 16 threads, and RDNA 3 integrated graphics.

According to AMD, the Ryzen PRO 7040 series will offer an average 17% increase in performance over its x86 competition and up to 15% better battery life while video conferencing, compared to an Apple M2 Pro processor.

It will also have Ryzen AI to equip the machine for AI-powered tasks and programs.

The highest-spec CPU is the AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 7940HS which has 8 cores and 16 threads. It will have a base frequency of 4.0 GHz, a boost frequency of up to 5.2 GHz, and a TDP of 35-53W.

Now for the desktop version of the AMD Ryzen PRO 7000 series.

They will feature up to 12 high-efficiency Zen4 cores and up to 24 threads. It will also have RDNA 2 architecture-based integrated graphics.

The highest-spec desktop Ryzen 7000 series CPU is the AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 7945 which will have a 3.7 GHZ base, up to 5.4 GHz boost frequency and a 65W TDP.

The all-new Ryzen PRO processors will be available in PCs and laptops starting this month.
