Apple is reportedly working on a new iOS gaming app, combining elements of the App Store and Game Center in a single hub. According to sources close to the development, the app will feature multiple tabs, including “Play Now,” personalized game recommendations, and editorial content. The app aims to streamline access to Game Center’s profile, friend lists, leaderboards, and achievements, all in one place.
In addition to showcasing games from both the App Store and Apple Arcade, the app will highlight gaming events and updates, potentially enhancing communication with FaceTime and iMessage integration. The app may also support mini-games using App Clips, similar to the Xbox app for iPhone, which offers game libraries and friend activity.
This new gaming app underscores Apple’s commitment to expanding its gaming ecosystem. It’s currently unknown if it will debut with an iOS 18 update or be introduced in iOS 19.
