ARCFOX Alpha-S with Huawei Inside unveiled

Huawei has revealed that the first vehicle integrated with Huawei’s intelligent automotive solution was officially launched during the 2021 ARCFOX Brand Night and New Product Launch in Shanghai, the ARCFOX Alpha-S HI.

The ARCFOX Alpha-S HI is the first premium intelligent electric vehicle co-branded with Huawei Inside (HI). As per Huawei, it will be the world’s first commercial vehicle with autonomous driving for urban roads as it is equipped with a full-stack automated driving system (ADS). The company mentioned that the car would be able to navigate itself through busy urban terrain, high-speed roads, and parking lots.

Huawei is a provider of new components for intelligent vehicles that work with car OEMs through the Huawei Inside model to develop high-quality intelligent vehicles. This model gives OEMs a new digital architecture for intelligent vehicles, over 30 intelligent components, and five intelligent systems – Intelligent Driving, Intelligent Cockpit, mPower, Intelligent Connectivity, and Intelligent Vehicle Cloud.

With ARCFOX Alpha-S HI, Huawei pledges to use its 30-plus years of experience in ICT to support OEMs build better intelligent cars and drive China’s automotive industry to evolve in various new areas such as intelligent and autonomous driving.

Furthermore, the vehicle is capable of recognizing and analyzing a full array of road features from traffic lights to oncoming traffic. With that said, the vehicle can operate without instruction in any situation, from going straight, turning, and stopping for pedestrians or other objects, to navigating on- and off-ramps and unprotected turns.

Huawei mentioned that the company has been researching artificial intelligence applications for nearly ten years, with their current autonomous driving algorithms entering development five years ago.

The ARCFOX Alpha-S HI is geared with HarmonyOS and a large HD display for premium interconnection between what Huawei labels as “1 + 8 + N” scenarios. By bringing together smart cockpit units with users’ other devices, these technologies enable services such as navigation, video, music, and voice to switch between the car and other devices.

What’s more, Huawei said that the vehicle also comes equipped with new power technologies. In 10 minutes, the ARCFOX Alpha-S HI cam power 197 km of driving. The dual-motor, intelligent four-wheel drive also lets drivers go from 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds, Huawei claims.

The HI intelligent automobile solution includes computing resources and operating systems to form three computing platforms — intelligent driving, intelligent cockpit, and intelligent vehicle control — and three operating systems — AOS (intelligent driving), HOS-A (intelligent cockpit), and VOS (intelligent vehicle control).

Both of the ARCFOX Alpha-S HI models, priced at CNY 388,900PHP 3,134,884USD 53,435INR 4,527,885EUR 50,868 and CNY 429,900PHP 3,465,381USD 59,068INR 5,005,240EUR 56,231, respectively, are expected to be available in the market at the end of 2021.

Huawei also revealed that any new vehicle affixed with the HI logo would come equipped with the company’s highest-level ADS and all intelligent automobile solutions.

The company’s R&D investment into intelligent automotive components is projected to surpass USD 1PHP 59INR 85EUR 0.95CNY 7 billion in 2021. Huawei has stated it will ramp up investment in components for intelligent vehicles, particularly autonomous driving software.
