The ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro and ASUS ROG Phone 9 have been officially launched. With both devices powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, differences lie in storage configurations and cameras.
As for upgrades, the line now has an improved cooling system with a larger graphite sheet. For accessories, we have the new in-box AeroCase, the optional Chill Case, and the AeroActive Cooler X Pro.
The AeroCase and Chill Case feature “Audio Redirection”, pushing audio from the bottom-firing speaker forward. This works in tandem with the speaker on top of the device, making for an immersive stereo effect.
Meanwhile, the AeroActive Cooler X Pro has a subwoofer and two shoulder buttons to complement the devices’ air triggers. The latest iteration of this accessory now has larger fan blades and more thermal compound.
Back to the devices, both phones have 6.78-inch AMOLED screens with FHD+ resolution. The displays may also support up to 185Hz refresh rates with the Game Genie app. However, support for this feature will only be available in certain game titles.
Of course, both devices will also have the AniMe Vision mini-LED feature on board as well. These can be personalized to cater to the user’s preferences. The ROG Phone 9 Pro has 648 LEDs while the base model has 85 LEDs.
With the significant increase compared to their predecessors, users can have a ton of fun with this. For example, you can now upload a GIF to add animations. You may also play retro games based on classic titles using the phone’s air triggers.
For optics, the ROG Phone 9 Pro has triple-rear cameras headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 700 sensor. This is paired with a 32-megapixel telephoto camera and a 13-megapixel ultra wide.
The base ROG Phone 9 almost has the same sensors, replacing the telephoto camera with a 5-megapixel macro. Both devices have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
Both devices pack 5,800mAh batteries and support 65W of wired fast charging over USB Type-C. It even supports 15W of wireless charging as well. ASUS says that the cells will retain at least 80% of their original capacity after 1,000 charging cycles.
Lastly, both devices have a 3.5mm Dirac-tuned audio port. The devices are certified for both Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless too. Pre-orders for the ROG Phone 9 Pro and ROG Phone 9 have already begun.
Shipping starts in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China tomorrow. As for Europe and the UK, it will start by December. As for the United States, they have to wait until January 2025.
As of now, the ROG Phone 9 Pro is priced at EUR 1,300 (~PHP 80,000) with 16GB/512GB. It’s also available for EUR 1,500 (~PHP 93,000) with 24GB/1TB.

Meanwhile, the ROG Phone 9 will cost EUR 1,100 (~PHP 68,000) with 12GB/256GB. The higher storage configuration with 512GB is priced at EUR 1,150 (~PHP 71,000).
