Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing.tech has confirmed that its next flagship, the Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
In contrast with the Phone (1), Pei says that the Phone (2) is a ‘clear upgrade’ which is a fact since the former only ran the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset.
He further discussed some key differences such as an 80% performance boost, and “bringing improvements across the board including battery life, network connectivity, and camera capabilities.”
There has been a lot of discussion ever since we announced that Phone (2) will have a Snapdragon 8 Series chipset. Well here’s some news – it’s going to be the premium-tier powerhouse Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. A clear upgrade from Phone (1). Let’s talk about the key differences👇 pic.twitter.com/l5NwCxDAVa

Pei also acknowledged that cutting-edge technology often comes at a cost that is not always justified from a user benefit standpoint. Hence their decision to use Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 rather than the latest 8+ Gen 2 which could’ve increased the Phone (2)’s price.
“Choosing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 ensures that Phone (2) remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone (1),” Pei said.
Despite having confirmed only the chipset, Nothing has yet to announce any other specifications or features of the Phone (2). We will learn more as the launch approaches.
