Converge ICT Solutions, a local internet service provider, in coordination with the local government unit of Angeles City spearheaded by Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan Sr. has launched the first public Wi-Fi service in the city.
The launch of the free Wi-Fi initiative called Angeles City ConnectED saw the installation of first thirteen (13) wireless hotspots scattered in the key location around the city.
Additional locations are currently being considered by Converge and the Angeles City officials which include Department of Education district office, and areas near the Holy Angel University and Angeles University Foundation.
Mayor Pamintuan was keen to point out that the installation of the free wireless hotspots come at no expense to the city, stating that Angeles City ConnectED is a product of Converge’s corporate social responsibility.
A son of Angeles City, Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said that it’s only fitting for his company to give back to his home town. He provided some details about the free Wi-Fi hotspot including its ability to accommodate up to 450 users all at the same time, shared bandwidth of 100 Mbps, and 300-meter coverage.
The CEO also pointed out that during the initial roll out of the service, there will be no limit on how much data Angeles City citizens can consume when they’re connected to one of the first 13 wireless hotspots.
