The standard iPhone 13 was the best-selling smartphone of 2022.
According to Counterpoint Research’s Global Monthly Handset Model Sales Tracker, the iPhone 13 was the best-selling smartphone in China, the US, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. It made up 28% of total iPhone sales in 2022.
Amazingly, Apple was able to capture 8 of the top 10 best-selling smartphones in the same year. After the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Pro Max got the second spot in sales, to be followed by the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Only two non-Apple phones broke the top 10, namely the Samsung Galaxy A13 at number 4 and the Samsung Galaxy A03 at number 10.
Looking at the top 10 list, it’s clear that many consumers still view older iPhones as viable options despite being a generation or two behind.
We can’t blame them, as older iPhones still receive iOS support 4-5 years down the line, making them a pretty good investment in the long term.
