Dell launches Inspiron 7000 and 5000 2-in-1 laptops

Dell is spicing up IFA 2018 with a slew of product announcements. Among those announced are the Inspiron 5000 and 7000 2-in-1 laptops.

First, let’s take a look at the Inspiron 7000 2-in-1s. It comes in three different sizes and variants — 13 (7386), 14 (7586), and 15-inches (7786). The laptops come with Intel 8th generation U-series processors namely the new Core i5-8265U and i7-8656U, an FHD or 4k UHD touchscreen, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of SSD Storage.

Two of the variants, the 15 and 17-inches can be equipped with a Nvidia MX150 GPU. The smaller ones, 13 and 15-inches, offer a 2.7mm miniaturized webcam that promises to offer greater low-light performance with Temporal Noise Reduction.

As for connectivity, the 13-inch has a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C, Combo Audio port, HDMI 2.0, and a microSD card reader. The bigger 15 and 17-inchers feature the same setup except for an additional USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A port.

The Dell 7000 2-in-1 series will go on sale on Oct.2 and starts at $879.99 (~Php 46,974) (13-inch), $849.99 (~Php 45,370) (15-inch), $1,099.99 (~Php 58,731) (17-inch).

Next up let’s take a look at the Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 series. Unlike the 7000-series the 5000-series only has two variants — Both at 14-inches but in different configurations. The two variants can be equipped with the same new 8th Gen Intel Core U-series processors as the 7000-series but with the addition of the Core i3-8145U.

The lower specced Inspiron 5481 comes with a 14-inch touch HD screen, up to 24GB RAM (8GB RAM + 16GB Intel Optane). Storage is up to a 256GB M.2 SSD or up to a 1TB SATA HDD. Those configurations equipped with Optane will have no M.2 slot. Connectivity is handled by two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a USB 2.0 Type-A port, SD card reader, HDMI 1.4 port, and an Audio Combo port.

As for the higher specced Inspiron 5482. It also comes with a 14-inch touch display but in Full HD resolution. The 5482 can be equipped with up to the new Core i7 U-series processor and an Nvidia GeForce MX130 GPU. It has a higher maximum configuration of up to 32GB RAM but without the additional Intel Optane. For storage, we have a plethora of options and combinations but maximum individual storage is at 256GB SSD or 2TB 5400rpm HDD. As for the combo storage, it maxes out at 256GB SSD + 2TB HDD.

Connectivity is the same with the 5481 but with an additional USB Type-C. The Dell Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 series will also be available in Oct.2 with a starting price of $459.99 (~Php 24,529) (5481) and $599.99 (~Php 32,010) (5482).
