Dell XPS 13 (9315)
The XPS 13 boasts a refreshed design that is its thinnest and lightest ever at 13.9mm thick and 1.17kg in weight. The new XPS 13 will also come in two new colors, Sky and Umber.
The new Dell XPS 13 also sticks with its excellent 16:10 13.4-inch display with Dolby Vision. However, Dell has rather opted to ditch the OLED displays found on previous models in favor for either FHD+ (1920 x 1080) or Ultra HD+ (3840 x 2400) panels.
Internally, it will come with Intel’s latest 12th Gen U-series processors (i5-1230U or i7-1250U). Dell has also revamped it internally by having the motherboard 1.8x smaller than its predecessor, this in turn allowed Dell to improve thermals, put in larger speakers, and keep the same-sized battery.
Other notable changes include the decision for Dell to also ditch the microSD card slot and 3.5 mm headphone jack, leaving us with just two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports for connectivity. The new XPS 13 will come with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, up to 32GB of LPDDR5-5200 RAM, and up to 1TB of PCIe 4.0 storage.
Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 (9315)
Dell’s XPS 13 2-in-1 has now had a drastic overhaul in design that leans more towards a tablet-style 2-in-1. Previous generations of the XPS 13 2-in-1 saw a more traditional laptop design with a 360-degree hinge. However, now it has gone the Surface Pro route with a folio design and detachable keyboard.
The 2-in-1 will feature a 3:2 13-inch 3K display with support for DisplayHDR 400. Like the traditional XPS 13, it will carry the same 12th Gen Intel processors and only include two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports for connectivity and power.
The new 2-in-1 will also see a 5MP 1080p front-facing webcam with support for Windows Hello and an 11MP 4K webcam at the rear. Other notable features include this being Dell’s first consumer PC with 5G and eSIM support and active pen support to go along with its new tablet form factor.
The XPS 13 2-in-1 will come with up to 16GB of LPDDR4x-4266 RAM, up to 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a 49.5Wh battery. It will also come in two colors, Sky and Slate.
Both the XPS 13 and XPS 13 2-in-1 are set to release this summer with no exact release date or pricing yet.
