With the COVID-19 pandemic, and the new additions to DITO Telecommunity and the 5G network, these have changed up the Philippine mobile network as the pressure to improve the Filipinos’ connectivity has increased. These have caused operators to double their efforts.
According to Opensignal, Smart’s share in their mobile network experience awards have been falling since April 2021. As DITO emerges, the company was able to bag the 4G Availability award. Globe and Smart were tied on 5G Reach and Video app experience.
In Opensignal’s latest standings, DITO has bagged the awards for Upload Speed Experience, Availability, Excellent Consistent Quality and Core Consistent Quality.
When it comes to Download Speed Experience, DITO is catching up to Smart. In the latest awards, DITO is is only 2.6Mbps behind Smart.
Smart continues to remain unbeaten, when it comes to 5G Download Speed as it continues to bag that award since October 2021.
Globe, on the other hand, had previously finished third with a score of 37.7 on a scale of 100, trailing DITO and Smart by 16.3 and 3.4 points, respectively, but has now gone on to win the prize outright with a score of 58.8 and a lead of 1.2 points over Smart’s 57.6 points. The telecom is the most awarded operator in the April 2023 report.
