DJI Avata 2 now official: a better FPV drone at a lower price

After almost two years, DJI has unveiled its sequel to its 2022 FPV drone: the DJI Avata 2, which comes at a significantly lower price than its predecessor.

The DJI Avata 2 features a new Super Wide angle 12-megapixel 1/1.3-inch sensor with a 155-degree field of view (FoV). It brings wider dynamic range and better performance in low-light scenarios.

Its media output capabilities include HDR video up to 4K at 60 frames per second (fps) and slo-mo videos 2.7K at 120 fps.

In comparison to the original DJI Avata, the new model lasts five minutes longer with a maximum of 23 minutes flight time. This is likely due to its refined build with a 16mm shorter, 32mm wider frame making it more stable and 28 grams lighter.

The max video transmission distance is also longer at 13 kilometers — that’s 3 km farther than the OG — with 24ms low latency, 1080p, 100fps, with max bitrate of 60Mbps.

In the US , the DJI Avata 2’s kit with the Goggles 3 and DJI RC Motion 3 controller now starts at just USD 999 (from USD 1,388 price tag on the 2022 model). For drone only, the DJI Avata 2 sets you back only USD 489 (down from USD 629).
