DJI has just announced a new product called the RoboMaster S1. The RoboMaster S1 is designed to be an educational robot for all ages.
DJI stated that the “S1” in the RoboMaster’s name stands for “Step 1”, with the robot acting as an introduction to AI, engineering, and robotics. The S1 is equipped 46 programmable components, 6 programmable AI modules, 21 sensors to map the environment and has Mecanum wheels on its side, allowing the robot to move in any direction. Up top, it has a first-person view (FPV) camera, sending a live feed from the S1 to the accompanying RoboMaster app. The FPV camera can also identify objects, recognize and respond to sounds, and receive signals from other S1 units.
The S1 also has interactive competition modes such as Target Practice, Target Race, and multiplayer modes called Race, and Free-for-All, where S1 robots can compete and race with each other.
Users can also write Scratch 3.0 or Python code to program their own functions and feed it to the S1. Along with the RoboMaster app, users can learn how to code in the introductory “RoboAcademy” feature and the more advanced “Road to Mastery” feature.
Check out the introduction video below:
The DJI RoboMaster S1 will be available by June 12 in the US and is priced at USD 499 (~PHP 25,920). An additional kit called “PlayMore Kit” which includes a dedicated gamepad, additional gel beads, battery, and a gel bead container will be available for purchase at a later date. The S1 will also be launched in China and Japan.
