Garmin intros Approach Z82, Approach S62 for golfers

Garmin has introduced its new Approach Z82, a GPS laser range finder, and the Approach S62, a GPS golf watch for golfers.

The Garmin Approach Z82 is capable of ranging between 10 inches to 450 yards. It comes with a full-color 2-D CourseView mapping through the lens and a Green View overlay on more than 41,000 courses worldwide. The optics have also been improved to come with a high-resolution OLED display.

What’s unique about the Approach Z82 is its supplementary course details that are available in the player’s peripheral vision. It merges GPS technology and CourseView mapping to produce a 2D image of the hole on the viewfinder. Once it locks onto the flag, the map automatically zooms in to the green, marking a Laser Ranged Arc at that specific distance.

The Approach S62, on the other hand, is a premium GPS golf and fitness smartwatch that’s equipped with a 1.3-inch color touch screen. It comes with a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel, and features like:

• PinPointer – When shooting a blind shot, the PinPointer shows players the exact direction of the pin.
• PlaysLike Distance – Adjusts yardages to compensate for uphill and downhill shots.
• Hazard View – Allows golfers to scroll through each hazard on the map.
• Virtual Caddie – Analyzes wind speed, course layout, and the golfer’s past swings to detect the best club for the shot.

Off the course, users also benefit from the enhanced wrist-based heart rate monitoring, Pulse Ox sensor, smart notifications, and other activity-tracking features from the watch. Its battery is rated up to 20 hours in GPS mode and up to 14 days in smartwatch mode.

Users may also pair their Approach Z82 and S62 with the Garmin Golf app to gain access to the new golf performance widget. This calculates the player’s stats, including their handicap index, fairway and approach shot hit/miss percentage, and green in regulation percentage.
