Globe has given an update on the increase in building of its cell sites and upgrades this year, as compliant to the government’s call to telcos to improve its internet services.
According to Globe, it has exceeded its performance of cell site upgrades with 7,780 or a 26.4% higher compared to the number of cell sites upgraded last year. These cell sites are now 4G-LTE ready.
The company has also installed 593 new towers in January, which is more than what the company has built from last year.
The company has expanded its cell sites to more locations nationwide, including Davao Oriental, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, Bukidnon, South Cotabato, Maguindanao, Davao Oriental, Isabela. Ilocos Sur, Catanduanes, Marinduque, Southern Leyte, Capiz, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Metro Manila, and Rizal.
Most of the sites have been completed were in Rizal and Quezon City, while Bulacan and Cavite received most network upgrades. There are still ongoing site installations and site upgrades in other targeted parts of the country.
Globe’s network upgrades and expansion include the aggressive building of cell towers, upgrading existing cell sites to LTE by increasing its frequencies and fast-tracking its fiber network.
