Last August 2023, Globe Telecom sent out a media release stating that the Globe Prepaid eSIM will be made available by the end of Q3 2023.
“By the end of this quarter, we will launch our leveled-up version of the eSIM because we recognize the opportunity and we can also monetize the convenience that eSIM can give our customers,” said Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.
“And it’s also going to restructure the way we operate because there’s less cost, it’s fully Do-It-Yourself. It’s really convenient for the customer.”
By mid-September, they also released another statement that the Prepaid eSIM will be available via the GlobeOne App 142 by the end of the month.
Purchasing an eSIM will be simple using the GlobeOne app:
● Users can easily download the FREE app
● Set up a GlobeOne account
● Request for a new eSIM
Again, the Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business re-iterated the promise:
“At Globe, we’re always looking ahead, anticipating the needs of our customers in an ever-evolving digital landscape. The prepaid eSIM captures our vision of a seamless, digital-first mobile experience, marrying innovation with convenience,” – Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.
By October 1, we checked the Globe One app to get our new eSIM but could not find the facility to do so. We emailed Globe’s rep, who sent us all these press statement before asking for guidance. While hundreds of our readers are also following up with us the release, we waited for official statement from Globe.
Within the day, we received a call from corporate communications explaining the delay of the Prepaid eSIM. The answer was a little vague but it pointed to the integration of the eSIM registration via the GlobeOne app (I believe the term used was “enhancement”).
Since we did not get any new timeline for the release, we are now assuming that the availability of the Prepaid eSIM has been postponed indefinitely.
So now, like everyone else who are eager to get their Prepaid eSIM, we continue to wait. We hope this sheds light to the incessant inquiries we are getting about the Globe eSIM.

I need eSIM for my iPhone 15 which was coming from the US. I had to buy one from SMART, but since the number I had from globe is an old one I still want to keep the number. I will add it to my phone once you have it already and could transform my old number into an eSIM.

Looks like may prepaid eSIM na ang Globe. Caveat, it’s for tourists only, it costs P750 for 20GB/15 days and it automatically deactivates after 30 days. I’m a tourist (well, dual) but I think I’d much rather stick to my Smart eSIM with MagicData+ 749.

You should call it as it is. Globe issued that press release to pretend as if they are going to rollout something but they know from the start it will not be available by the end of Q3. In fact, they don’t have any plans to make this available for prepaid consumers. If they did, why wait for 5 years. Now, Smart made it available to prepaid user first, now they are rushing to roll out as well. I just wish that there would be more competition in the PH, otherwise they don’t have much incentives to improve their services — all they do is jack up prices for poor service.
Namulto ng Globe says:
Globe’s systed is messed up. Messy signal, messy customer service, everything messy
They don’t know horw to properly implement eSIM platform in their system obviously.
Congtratulations Smart. You are better this time.
Ghec says:
There is no official statement release about the hold of the release, they could have posted it on their website or any socmed accounts. As one of the biggest provider here in the Philippines they could have provided an apology statement that they were not able ti fulfill their priorr announcement instead they stayed in silent like nothing happened
rui says:
I don’t know why they have to tie the eSIM to the GlobeOne app. If one doesn’t have an existing Philippine cellphone number, they would first need to buy another SIM card before they’re able to register for a GlobeOne account. I can understand requiring the GlobeOne app for physical SIM to eSIM conversions. For folks who just need a new number though, they should provide another avenue for purchasing.
Meanwhile, Smart makes it easy for foreigners and tourists to purchase eSIMs with email delivery from their website.
Ghosted says:
Globe doesn’t even have the courage to offer a public apology for their numerous failures like their eSIM platform and very poor and substandard customer service. I hope this comment gets posted……
