Google Messages test floating bubbles for Android 10

Google has started testing floating conversation bubbles for its messaging app for Android 10.

According to XDA Developers, Google has introduced a new bubbles notification feature back in April on Android 10 Beta 2. Unfortunately, it didn’t make it to the stable release of Android 10. Today, users can manually enable the feature from the Developer Options (via Settings -> Developer Options -> Bubbles). Once the option is enabled, users should be able to enable the bubbles functionality on the Messaging app.

While we couldn’t get the feature to work, Mishaal Rahman from XDA Developers has managed to enable it and grab a few screenshots. The bubbles work similarly to Facebook Messenger. Texts appear when users receive messages, and users can view the full message by tapping on the bubble. To dismiss the bubble, users can drag it towards the “X” at the bottom of the screen.

This feature is still experimental, and users should expect a few bugs here and there.
