Google Nexus 5 coming 1st week of December

We just got confirmation that the Google Nexus 5 will be officially launched in the Philippines this 1st week of December.

There’s no specific day on that week but nor we have any idea on the suggested retail price though.

We also confirmed that Smart will also carry the Nexus 5 on their postpaid plan. We update with more details as we get them.

  1. Any news on whether Globe will carry the Nexus 5 too?

    • No word from Globe. Probably not.

    • I asked Globe via Twitter, they’ll keep me posted. I doubt it, coz that was the same thing they said to me with Xperia Z.

    • Not likely. Google subsidizes the Nexus devices in the US.

    • @noh: Kasi wala pang tax yung sa US kaya mukhang ganun kamura.

Malamang around that price din pag Google nag-release.

  3. up ko lang po queries ni PJ at James… spot on po questions nila… :) (feeling excited)

So ibig sabihin postpaid option lang?

    • PLEASE HELP!
Where can I buy Google Nexus 5 D821 version 16gb or 32gb 4G LTE here in Cebu and how much is the price??

And how will I know if it’s ORIGINAL or FAKE??

      Please help……

  5. Nexus 5 from google will be available at lazada

  6. sana wala masyadong patong…

  7. If ever Google Play will sell it in the Philippines, I hope they ship it from a local distribution center. I don’t want to pay VAT + customs duty that will be around 25% of the declared price of the product.

    • Google outsource all of their Play Store fulfillment for Asia Pacific out of Hong Kong. If its done through Play Store it will come from there.

  8. Got mine from an an online store for 21k last week… Been torn between this and lg g2…my sister got the g2 instead… So far better than my nexus 4.. Worth the upgrade…

    • I also plan to buy both, can I ask what online store did you purchase them?

    • how much does this cost? if the difference between G2 and Nexus 5 is not that far apart id go for G2

    • Php1k difference lang. I’ve seen and held the Nexus, it feels cheap.

  9. Just like the N4 it was said to be smart only but retailers got a hold of it. Smart and Globe usually sells the phones as stand alone but id prefer direct from the retailer.

  11. This is the best I read so far from the Philippine shore!

  12. LG G2 has a 3000mah battery, nexus is nice but the battery of the LG and Camera is far better

    • am not any indian spammer or what but yeaaah LG G2 is much better than nexus even if they almost have the same features and specs

    • Nothing beats stock Android so Nexus 5 all the way.

    • Both are awesome phones but I do agree with you. Battery and camera-wise, G2 really beats Nexus 5. The overall speed and performance of Nexus sounds promising though especially with the Kit Kat

  13. even if globe would handle nexus 5 they’d just say “no stocks yet” and sell samsung or iphone

  14. yes! early christmas gift! want this nexus 5 badly

    • I know! I’ve been desperately waiting for this phone!

  15. yes! smart! na ang carrier ng nexus!

  16. Ayos!

    • Exactly!

In one of the FB groups I am a part of, I read one guy claiming he got his Note 3 phone ROOTED. He called the online seller asking why the phone was ROOTED and the seller’s representative told him various reasons.

Phones do not come out ROOTED out of the box. Somebody tampered on it. It’s that simple. That’s not so say that the case is impossible with local/official distributers/sellers, but you can always check the phone/purchase in the store, before you pay for it.

Anyone can confirm this?

    • 2 versions yan, US at International, yung sa UK international version yun. so obviously international yung satin.

    • If LG Philippines and/or Smart are going to offer it here, they’d definitely sell the international variant.

It wouldn’t make sense selling US-targeted product since that variant is manufactured to support US carriers.

    Salamat.

    • Pare,

Kung tutuusin, sa panahon ngayon, ang tinatagal ng isang telepono is 2 years. Sige, sabihin na nating 3 years.

So sa tanong mo, kung dapat ba nating isipin ang non-removable battery, well, it depends on you.

If you are the type na napapabili ng telepono in 2-3 years. Then this would be a non-issue for you.

If you are the type who sticks to his phone until it dies, then it might become an issue. However, what you can do is to optimize your use of your phone so that your battery will last longer.

But manufacturers nowadays give consumers enough reason to ditch their gadgets nearly every 2 years.. has anybody noticed?

    • In all the phones I’ve owned, never did I feel the need to change battery so I don’t see the argument here.

  19. I’ve had mine for 2 weeks now, got it from an online store. Medyo mahal by 1k compared sa Kim, pero still very worth it. Even if Play Store sells it for the peso equivalent of $349, still no regrets kasi una naman ako nagkaroon..

Again I love the Nexus 5…

    • PLEASE HELP!

  20. Awesome specs. Glad it’s going to be available on Smart plans.

  21. Wow! I hope it won’t be too expensive.

  22. Watch a review about the phone on youtube… It helps to decide what you want to buy… Nexus 5 is on kitkat na… But the camera sucks daw…
