Google Pixel Watch reportedly running on older hardware

Google’s first wearable, the Pixel Watch may be new but what powers it, sure ain’t.

It was just last week that Google held its Google I/O 2022 announcing its first generation of Pixel Watch. However, a report from 9to5Google has found out that the Pixel Watch is actually powered by the same Exynos chip that was originally on Samsung’s Galaxy Watch back in 2018.

According to their source, Pixel Watch will be running on specifically the Exynos 9110 which is built on a 10nm process with dual Cortex-A53 cores. Reports suggest that the use of an older chipset is due to the fact that the Pixel Watch has been long in development years ago and switching to the Exynos W920 which is found on Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch 4 would delay its development and production.

While it would be certainly nice to have the latest and greatest processor on their first-ever Pixel Watch, does it really matter though? When using smartwatches, we rarely care about performance or benchmarks but rather, battery life.

We surely would love to see how the Exynos 9110 would match up with the Pixel Watch’s 300 mAh battery and how long it would last.

We’d love to hear from you! So let us know what you think of the new Google Pixel Watch and if you’d like to pick one up.
