HMD Global has officially revealed its roadmap for Nokia devices getting Android Pie.
All of the company’s smartphones will be upgraded to the latest platform, as announced by the company’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas. Here is the timeline for Nokia’s Android Pie upgrade:
Date | Device |
---|---|
Already seeded | Nokia 7 Plus Nokia 6.1 Nokia 6.1 Plus Nokia 7.1 Nokia 5.1 Plus |
Ongoing | Nokia 8 Sirocco Nokia 8 |
January 2019 | Nokia 5 Nokia 3.1 Plus |
Q1 2019 | Nokia 6 Nokia 5.1 Nokia 3.1 Nokia 2.1 |
Early Q2 2019 | Nokia 3 Nokia 1 (Android GO) |
It’s also worth noting that Nokia has already released Android Pie for five of its devices in the past weeks. The Nokia 7.1, 6.1, 6.1 Plus, 7.1, and 5.1 Plus all have received their software updates before this announcement.
Google’s latest mobile operating system, Android Pie, brings in a slew of new features for digital well-being along with battery and security improvements. HMD Global does not employ any skin on top of their Nokia devices’ OS, as most of their phones are part of Android One and Android Go programs. This makes it faster for them to deploy updates such as these.
