Honor CEO Zhao Ming has confirmed that the upcoming Honor Magic 6 series will feature satellite communication technology.
During a media conversation at the sidelines of the Honor 100 press conference, Zhao Ming emphasized the ongoing efforts to enhance the smartphone user experience. He highlighted the importance of delivering a meticulously crafted device, ensuring that consumers receive a product that doesn’t encounter issues immediately after unboxing.
The Honor Magic 6 series is set to debut with MagicOS 8 pre-installed, expected to be based on Android 14.
Notably, the phone will leverage a large language model to enhance its AI capabilities, powered by the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
One of the most noteworthy features of the Honor Magic 6 series is the incorporation of Satellite Communication technology.
Zhao Ming revealed that Honor has been diligently working on this technology, hinting that it might have been part of the Magic 5 series’ plans but was held back.
However, he did not explicitly confirm whether the Magic 6 series would support only SMS or have full calling capabilities.
As of now, Huawei stands as the sole phone maker in the industry with smartphones supporting both satellite SMS and satellite calling capabilities. The recent Huawei Mate 60 Pro made history as the first smartphone to feature satellite calling, enabling users to make calls without relying on a native mobile network.
While other Chinese phone makers are exploring the integration of satellite communication in their upcoming devices, the Honor Magic 6 series is poised to take the spotlight as it potentially makes satellite communication a reality for its users.
