Huawei has launched that Enjoy 70 smartphone which it originally released in China last December under a new international name: the Nova Y72. However, this budget handset raises some questions about Huawei’s product strategy.
While the Nova Y72 shares the same design and specs as the Enjoy 70, including a sizable 6,000mAh battery and 50MP main camera, it is powered by the dated Kirin 710A chipset. This processor was first introduced back in 2018 and utilizes an aging 14nm manufacturing process. Those specs could understandably underwhelm international audiences expecting more cutting-edge technology in a new 2024 release.
However, the $265 (~PHP 14k) target price point is reasonable given the large battery and cameras. But with only 720p display resolution and unknown RAM configurations, it remains to be seen if the Nova Y72 can truly compete on value.
