Instagram to prioritize newer posts with major feed changes

Instagram has announced a couple of key changes to their app, both of which solve an issue that many a user has had a problem with.

They are introducing a ‘New Posts’ button that allows users to manually refresh the feed themselves, rather than a refresh happening automatically while you’re in the middle of scrolling.

Also, Instagram is finally taking action by listening to user feedback and will be prioritizing newer posts at the top of the feed, somehow bringing back the old chronological timeline.

Their exact statement reads that “newer posts are more likely to appear first in feed”, which means they probably won’t be abandoning the algorithmic feed anytime soon.

More changes are promised for the next few months, and we can expect the two mentioned to roll out for both the Android and iOS apps soon.
