Instagram rolls out AI-powered Anti-Bullying feature

Instagram has started to roll out an AI-powered Anti-Bullying feature in its app.

Instagram stated that the new feature is part of the company’s commitment to fighting against online bullying. The AI feature will kick in and notify people when their comment may be considered offensive or harmful before it’s posted. Instagram shared that

This intervention gives people a chance to reflect and undo their comment and prevents the recipient from receiving the harmful comment notification.

The social media platform also added that it will soon be testing out a feature called Restrict, which protects accounts from unwanted interactions with another user. Once a user Restricts another user, comments from that person on your posts will only be visible to that person. Users can also choose to make that person’s comments by approving it. Restricted individuals won’t be able to see whether a user is active on Instagram, and they won’t also be notified if a user has read their direct messages.

Instagram has not stated which territories already have the anti-bullying feature.
