Instagram has just rolled out an all-in-one portal for users having issues accessing their accounts.
The portal is called Instagram.com/hacked and serves as a hub for people to report and address problems with account access.
Instagram says that anyone who is unable to log in to their account or thinks they have been hacked should visit Instagram.com/hacked from either their desktop or smartphone.
Once on the portal, Instagram will ask a series of questions to address the user’s specific issue.
Instagram is also rolling out a new recovery feature of allowing users to let their friends confirm their identity if their account is compromised.
The app will allow users to choose two of their friends to verify their identity as a way to regain their account.
Instagram is also making efforts to prevent hacking before it happens by removing accounts that its automated systems find “malicious,” which they say includes those which impersonate others according to their Community Guidelines.
Lastly, Instagram will now show a blue verified badge for verified accounts in more places across the app. Verified badges used to only appear in Instagram Profiles but they will now also appear in Stories and DMs.
Instagram says that they’ll be rolling out the badge in Feeds soon as well.
Aside from the new security features, the platform is testing a new warning feature that will help target accounts impersonating others. Instagram says that users that receive follow requests or are DMed by a suspected impersonator account will receive a warning from the app.
