Leica Lux app launched for iPhone users

The Leica 54 Lux app has just launched, bringing 11 color profiles and film-inspired aesthetics to iPhones through a ‘freemium’ app.

The app brings Leica’s imaging style to iPhone photography, catering to quick snapshots and advanced methods of capturing shots. The app (dubbed ‘Leica looks’) reflects how dependable and authentic Leica is, as read on the App Store.

The Lux app can be used in a fully automatic mode, similar to the iPhone’s camera app. However, it also has Aperture Mode—which can use software to digitally mimic the style and bokeh of classic lenses.

Prime examples are the Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH and classic Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH of 1966. Apple also noted that new lenses will be added to the Lux app monthly.
In addition, the app delves into the same color science their cameras offer. In other words, Leica Lux lets users experience similar results with color grading and film presets.

Users have options like Leica Classic, Leica Contemporary, and Leica Black & White to choose from. The app also allows users to tinker with exposure compensation, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, manual focus, and RAW/ProRAW.

Readers should take note that Leica Lux requires iOS 17.1 or later to run. The app can be downloaded for free, with an in-app subscription to access more features. Subscribing will cost PHP 399 monthly for Philippine users.
