LG earlier this year started licensing their proprietary TV platform WebOS to different brands. And now, they have announced a welcome feature for WebOS, which is Amazon Alexa.
Different brands that use WebOS to power their TVs will soon have intelligent voice recognition powered by Amazon Alexa.
Using LG TVs own Magic Remote, users can directly speak to the device to access information or to use commands. With its point and click capability, LG Magic Remote is extremely intuitive to use and automatically recognizes and connects to set-top boxes and other compatible devices such as soundbars.
All you have to do is press the Amazon Prime Video button and users have the ability to control volume, change channels, play music, control your smart devices, and a whole lot more.
“The addition of Amazon Alexa to the long list of webOS features will enhance the user experience and boost the value of our growing smart TV ecosystem,” said Jung Sung-hyun, head of content services at LG Home Entertainment Company. “Bringing together the capabilities of Alexa with the convenience of webOS to third-party TVs is a win-win-win for TV brands, customers, and developers.”
This near feature will be released in North America in the third quarter followed by other regions.
